Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

Amazon was my lifeline during quarantine, working remotely and hardly ever leaving the house the first year of COVID. That was when I realized I could get the same products I was getting at the drugstore/pet store/grocery store for less, delivered to my door.

I live way up in the hills, about 20 minutes from downtown. It wasn’t worth the time, gas and disappointment of finding half the things I needed not available in the stores. If I have a need for pet meds on an emergency basis, for instance, or need an Ace bandage quickly (it happens), I can get a delivery the next day. Otherwise, I consolidate my deliveries.

I watch Prime streaming, buy books there, even get free ebooks, and there are benefits I haven’t had time to use yet (still working full time, with a 3x week commute). Membership is worth every penny and I hope to never have to give it up.

Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

Love being a Prime member. Well worth the yearly fee. Such variety of items to choose from. Quick shipping, many next day. Movies, tv shows, music, books. Easy returns and awesome CS. Our family purchases so much from Amazon. They know how to do retail right!

Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

I canceled my Amazon 2 weeks ago. I still get free shipping.
The perks , I never used.
I am tired of “ paying” to shop.

I have always wondered how much Amazon gets annually from Prime subscriptions alone.

It's a good gig if you can get it!

Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

From CNBC this is a small snippet talking about some of Amazon's financial woes.

"Amazon’s market cap has shrunk to about $834 billion from $1.7 trillion to start the year. The company fell out of the trillion-dollar club last month.

Much of Amazon’s misfortunes are tied to the economy and macro environment. Soaring inflation and rising interest rates have pushed investors away from growth and into companies with high profit margins, consistent cash flow and high dividend yields."

There's more to the article but it included these points ~

Amazon shares are about to wrap up their worst year since 2000 and second worst on record.

The stock has plunged 51% this year, wiping out hundreds of billions of dollars in market cap.

Among the most valuable tech companies, Amazon still performed better than Meta and Tesla. Well, at least that's something anyway.

It's no wonder Amazon has laid off 27,000 employees since November of 2022. That about 26,600 less than QVC but no one seems too concerned.

Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

I won't pay for Prime. Every so often they offer me a free trial that ranges from a week to 30 days. Then I cancel it.

I make sure my orders total $25 so I always get free shipping & returns.

Re: Amazon Prime Subscription

it is just like magazine subscriptions; once you subscribe, they keep charging you forever
