I hope I'm posting in the appropriate place.  Amazon is offering a free 30 day trial membership so I signed up.  I ordered some items but when I went to check out, I noticed there was shipping and handling.  I always thought that one of the perks of Prime is that all items ship for free.  Am I correct or incorrect?  I didn't complete the order as I want to find out if they are charging me shipping and handling in error. If anyone has any imput, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much.   docsgirl

Re: Amazon Prime Question

[ Edited ]

Was it S/H or taxes?  Occasionally my Prime orders have taxes added.  Not sure why.

ETA: Checked orders and one has "Estimated tax to be collected" added.  This does not happen very often.

Not everything on Amazon is free S&H with Prime. Products will state that they are Prime - will have the logo if they are available with Prime.

No all items do not ship free- only those that actually state it is a prime eligible item.

It depends on who is shipping the item and from where that determines whether tax is charged or not.

Re: Amazon Prime Question

Not everything is classified as Prime...free shipping. Most items will say Prime in the description usally beside the item some where....then you will know its free. Look for the word Prime on the page near the item.

There are ways to do searches for item which will only show prime items.

Yes, it's only free 2-day shipping if it's Amazon prime eligible. I just placed an order myself! :-)

@docsgirl, not all items are prime eligible.  Those that are prime will clearly indicate that.  If you are not seeing the prime logo try logging out then logging in.  It is possible that you were not automatically signed in as a prime member immediately after signing up for the free trial.

A caveat about the free trial.  If you have any doubts about remaining a prime member watch your dates closely because Amazon will automatically charge you the membership fee without a grace period.

@docsgirl, you can filter your searches for Prime only.
