I was going to order four shirts the other day from QVC, all the same shirt, two colors, two sizes because the reviews said it ran big. S&H came to something like $21.00 !!! I cancelled the order.
I cancelled an order too Noel, two blouses and S&H $!0. That's outrageous!

You're smart!
I don't understand people complaining about the Prime cost but think nothing of paying exhorbitant shipping costs per item at the Q all the time. Prime = less than $10/month for as many items as you order.

We have a year to find out whether the lack of state sales tax will continue. This is something that will be a factor in my decision.
Honestly, I often order things on Amazon b/c I am in a hurry and it would cost me a lot more to do that a la carte, so I am likely to renew. They saved my schedule a few times in the last year. I mostly order books from them but other items, including pet supplies, also.

ITA! I wonder if they charge the same price if you want it shipped by the post office? It seems to be UPS leading the pack with high prices. Probably QVC would charge the same, no matter who shipped it, and pocket the difference.

Anyway, I got the email too and I have until this December, at which point mine will increase, to decide if I want to stay or drop it. Still undecided.
I would have hoped that they would grandfather in the older members and just start charging the new price for new members but I guess that doesn't actually make full sense.
I haven't done the numbers, but a $20 increase is a pretty large percentage.
It's a 25% increase.
I was just billed for this today and I was surprised to see they charged sales tax on top of the $79.
Thanks. I was too lazy to think, or pull out a calculator. ![]()
Ouch, sales tax too?
We just started having sales tax in my state at Amazon, this year. That would make mine go up from $79 flat to $107+ - almost $30 increase. Going to really think about this between now and December, when mine renews.
I've managed to find some workarounds (sneaky I am) but not always. If you buy from third party vendors, unless they are in your state, they still don't charge sales tax. At the beginning of the year I purchased two tiny little 19" TVs, to replace the ones in my kitchen and office (wanted HDMI) and it was over $300. I found one vendor who had them for the same price but saved a bunch on sales tax. So I've been doing than, when I can, to save a little more. (BTW, we don't have state income tax in my state so nowhere to file to pay sales tax on internet purchases)

I don't get it, either. I find it odd that some people take a seemingly unfounded dislike against something like Amazon Prime. We order so much from them, sometimes I'm almost embarrassed, LOL. I can't find my fave cereal in the stores anymore, so I ordered 8 boxes from Prime

ps Speaking of Prime v. QVC...
I ordered a cookbook on Amazon I'd seen pictured on QVC. Not because I'd seen a promo here, I hadn't, but because I saw a write-up about it elsewhere. That Eat What You Love cb. I paid so much less than it was here, I know because after I ordered I looked it up, PLUS no S&H!

Hey Noel & MJ! Good point about paying for Prime vs paying too much for QVC shipping. I order so very little from QVC anymore. This is just one reason. I don't have a problem with a retailer charging shipping, on top of a fair merchandise price, but to not be able to combine shipping any better than they do is outdated.
I do love Prime, so I am not certain what I'll do at the end of the year. If I were placing a bet, I'd say that I will probably keep it. But it's worth thinking about if it goes up $30 including sales tax, for me. I do buy a lot of household necessity stuff there, and save a LOT especially on likie the 30# bags of Wellness for the dog. I probably do buy more than enough from Amazon to easily cover the $100+ price for Prime. Ok, well, that got a lot of the thinking out of the way. ha! ![]()

Same here! We've ordered the most mixed-up assortment of items, from hard to find packaged foods to espresso pods to car parts
. And Amazon was fantastic for shipping to Afghanistan and the middle east.
