I believe you insert your credit card and the gate opens & you just leave & charges are applied. No chance for theft because it’s charged to your card if you pick it up and deducted when you put an item back.

I feel sorry for all those loyal people who worked at check out during the pandemic. Many of them in my area did get Covid.
