Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

@Moonchilde

@151949

I also wondered about going to a pain clinic instead of a spinal surgeon.  I do not want to 'mask' the issue, I want it fixed, if possible!  When you are in the office you cannot think of every question....and I asked a lot of questions yesterday, he implied that this was not a surgical intervention issue.

I also do not prefer a chriopractor vs a medical doctor..I have used the chrio for small issues over my 61 years of life and it always remedied the situation but this is a new problem with my back unrelated to other issues I have had.

I have to rethink things, thank you!

Chiroprctors do do x-rays in their office. I do not have a lot of experience with chiropractors; went to one last year. Found that they do not do a lot for the money you spend. Not with you long at all. Electronic stimulation of your back then probably 5 minutes with the Dr.

Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

@Mom2Dogs, I would make an appt with an orthopedist who specializes in the spine (they are all specialists - back, knee, hand, ankle, etc) and take your MRI results with you. Or if your insurance requires, get a referral from your PCP. Tell him your back issues, and see what he says. Contrary to what many say, I don't believe that reputable doctors invariably insist on surgery as the first resort. I've had four orthopedists tell me they would not do surgery for my foot and ankle issues except as an extreme last resort.

Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

@Moonchilde....thanks. I was concerned that a specialist woud jump to surgery...but  I am not interested in just controlling the pain either!

And then I got another hit today....a  spot on my nose. that concerned me...the doctor did a biopsy...she is suspicious.....this has not been my week, ha!

@Mom2Dogs   Good luck to you with the skin problem.  I hope it's nothing, but if it is a basal or squamous cell skin cancer, these are routinely treated successfully.

Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

@september..thank you!  It was a big surprise to me but yet I was curious enough about it to to see the doctor, thank goodness!

I thought it would turn out to be nothing.

She did say she suspects squamous cell skin cancer.

I'm 61 years old and the first person I wanted to talk to after I called my husband, was my mom....she has been for over 25 years!

Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

@Mom2Dogs, if it does turn out to be squamous cell, you might want to read up/be informed about the usual surgical treatment for squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas. I've had 2-3 friends who have had this done.

If the biopsy show it's a squamous cell cancer (what I had)...what is usually recommended, if it's on your face, is to have Moh's surgery.  You go into the office and have some tissue removed.  then you go to the waiting room while the tissue removed is examined, to be sure they got everything with an acceptable margin around the excised area.  If not...they take out a bit more.

I was lucky, and there was a good amount removed with the first excision.  This was about 6 months ago, and I have just a faint scar at this point.

Re: Am I expecting to much from my chriopractors office?

They should have called you.    The front desk person probably overlooked or forgot the report had come in and therefore did nothing with it.        I think it might be worth talking to the chiropractor about this.    You just want to know if this is the way their practice is run.    If it is, there are many other chiropractors to choose from!

Good luck.
