Some people insist that they say what they mean, but when others hear them they hear something else.

Just sayin'

Hi Kitty!  Smiley Happy   Yeah, for me anyway, that's kind of where opinion/feeling gets in the way of facts for some.   Smiley Wink     If I make a statement of fact, the only way to cull anything otherwise, or additional, from that is if one is converting those facts to a set of opinions that are adverse to the facts.

That's often been my observation, anyway.

Which is what happens on these forums every hour on the hour ;-)

Hi, @chickenbutt!

Most of the time (not all) people speak plainly enough about whatever it is and 90% of readers "get it" straight up. But there are always the 10% who get "interpretive" about everything people say.

- What did you mean by that?

- I meant X (repeating)

- I don't think you meant that, *I* think you *really* meant Y!

WT*? How is anyone supposed to deal with that kind of "analytical thinking" except laugh?

Hahaha - analytical thinking.  Good one!  Smiley Wink

Hey Moonchilde.  Nice to see ya.   Yeah, that's a bit of a peeve of mine.  I know that I can only speak for me, but if I say something I mean exactly that and usually some kind of 'what do you mean by that?' query is usually an attack that has nothing to do with what I actually said.

And yes, I see it here every day.  I tend to ignore a lot of that type of thing, being a grown-up and all.   I won't get myself in a big ol' back and forth.  If somebody didn't 'hear' me the first or second time - I'm out.  Not worth the trouble.  Smiley Happy

So am I the only one who means what I say? I feel your word is your bond. It annoys me when people say I'll call you or get back to you and they don't. Case in point I have Time Warner Cable and had someone to my house back in June. He tells me if I have trouble again give him a call (he gave me his card with his cell number, I didn't ask for it). So I'm having the same trouble again and called him on Friday. He said he would come Wednesday between 9:00-10:00 am and call back later Friday to confirm, he never did. I try reaching him yesterday, his phone is full and not receiving anymore messages. Now it is 11:00, and he never showed. I should say he is high up at TWC and told me he would let them know about the problem but TWC customer service has no record of it.

i would say that you should probably call time warner directly and set up an appointment instead of just relying on the word of a contractor, especially since you have not heard from him since last friday.

the good thing about comcast is is that if a technician is late fails to show they will give you a credit of $20 on your bill. check to see if time warner also has this policy.

Our cable Re: Am I The Only One

[ Edited ]

If you have a Twitter account and your cable company does too...complain on Twitter... I've had companies react fairly quickly as they don't like to see negative responses out there for the nation to see.

I agree @Jordan2.

In a book called The Four Agreements, one of the agreements is Be Impeccable In Your Word. And I think that is important, especially in customer service.

When I've done phone support there have been times I don't know an answer right of the bat and have to tell the customer that I'll call them back. I can feel the "is she really gonna call me back" vibe. And boy are they happy when I do, or if necessary - a supervisor does. It creates a positive impression even if the customer is called back with bad news.
