Re: Alright, what does this mean?

OK, I've been at home, walking through the house.  It doesn't last for long.  I'd love to think it is grandma, or mom, they cooked and baked, or my sister.  I'm too old to have a baby so that's not it.  I'll think of it as someone dear, who has passed.  That's comforting.  Thank you all.  That was interesting to read  your ideas. Thanks.

Re: Alright, what does this mean?

I smell imaginary odors. Usually they are unpleasant-

vomit, dirty toilet and such.
Thank goodness its not all the time.

I have air diffusers in each room, and keep a very clean house.

Lately, last 6 months or so, my dh has been smelling.

He showers daily, but I keep sniffing at him.

He uses Caswell and Maswell cologne, and smells Devine, but when I get the smell in my head I spray him with HXO. Nothing works.

@IMW    What is HXO?

Re: Alright, what does this mean?

I grew up not far from the Mars chocolate candy plant and on a warm, breezy summer Chicago night, my dog and I would sit on the front steps taking in the wonderful smells of the chocolate. My dog's nose would be in the air sniffing the delights! Great memories!!

Re: Alright, what does this mean?

I went to a sleep clinic because I just could not sleep. He asked me if I had hallucinations. I said yes. (one time I thought I saw a huge spider-huge-in the corner of my bedroom. I said to myself I'm gonna have to get that guy tomorrow.) But no spider in the morning. Other times I would see dirt or dust by the bed and after a while I'd think, I'm not going to worry about it. It's just an hallucination. (it was) So I got interested enough to google these strange goings on only to learn that it can also come in smells, not just sightings! Aha! So that's why I smell something cooking when nothing's cooking. So, I have been taking melatonin and I'm sleeping fairly well and my hallucinations that I actually knew WERE haluccinations haven't shown up lately. Still smelling something cooking once in a while., tho. Tha's fine. They're good smells.

@Desert Lily   My son used to live downwind from an In-N-Out burger.  You could smell the burgers in his front yard when we he looking to buy the house.

Re: Alright, what does this mean?

There's a General Mills plant here in Albuquerque.  Whenever I drive past it I try to guess what cereal they're making that day.  Some days it's Cocoa Puffs, some days it's Trix.

I don't mind phantom scents.  I only worry when I smell gas.

Sorry John, I don't ever know what either of those are.  You're worse off than me.  LOL.
