I need to update my driver's license to a state ID. We tried doing it several months ago but at the time I didn't have the appropriate documentation to verify my identity. Then we got busy over the summer and never did anything about it. I was sure the BMV was closed on Mondays but open the rest of the week, except weekends. Yesterday I said something to DH about going and getting it done today. So, I got showered and dressed, did my hair and makeup, etc. I checked the website, to see if they're open all day or if they close for lunch. Well, either I'm losing my mind or they changed their hours. They're closed today! Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00-5:00. 🤦♀️

Honestly, I don't know what it is about different hours on different days, but it's not just you.
TWICE in the past month I stopped by my local library when it was closed! Some days they're open 9 to 5 and some days 12 to 8pm, and I swear they shift the scheduled times, just to annoy us! lol
(I took a photo of their hours so I have it on my phone now.)
I bet your hair and makeup looked really nice, too. ![]()
It's always something.

Well, I bet you look lovely even if you aren't going to the DMV.

I had the opposite thing happen to me. I needed to renew my license (it was expiring) so I got all cleaned up with makeup and nice sweater for photo. I planned to do the "real id" at the same time. I had with me the divorce decree of my first marriage as I didn't have the marriage certificate and had no idea where it was. DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicles) wouldn't accept the divorce decree as proof of my previous name without the marriage certificate. Sooo I renewed my license and the associate told me they could use my current picture when I returned with the needed proof of name change but I would have to pay the $25 renewal fee again.
It took some time for me to remember where I was married (I was 19 at the time and we sneaked out of state due to age requirements). I got a certified copy of the marriage certificate. I had a back injury shortly after and put off going back to the DMV. I just touched up my hair, did my brows and some mascara, tossed on a clean top and jeans and headed off the the DMV. I thought they would use my current license info and picture. They made me do the whole license renewal procedure again complete with eye exam and photo. So now I am stuck for a long time with a photo id that looks like the everyday me!! Yikes!!!!

@JeanLouiseFinch You never know what govt hours are! My library is the best. Open 7 days a week, Labor Day to Memorial Day. Then summer 6 days a week. Closed Sundays. They do close an hour earlier on weekdays since the pandemic. It's a great library.

Gosh, we're lucky here in Arizona. We just go online and renew. The last time I went in person was 5 years ago after my cataract surgery to get a new picture without glasses. We don't even have to go to the DMV. We have affiliates that for a few bucks more do the same thing but without the wait. In and out in 20 minutes.

I guess it is hard to get people to come to an office and work now. They only want to work home in their jammies.

So maddening, isn't it!! I did the same thing a few weeks back--got all showered up , made-up, dressed up for a drs appointment--took an Uber there, only to find out--my appointment was for the NEXT day!!! THEN...... did the same thing the next day only to have the office call me to reschedule as the dr was sick!!! Luckly I was still home-----but now it's been a whole month later for this stupid appointment!!! AARRGGGGGGG!!!!!

@Meowingkitty I think that could be done in some States if you are an American Citizen. But once you reach the age of 64 or older you have to visit DMV to do a vision test. Those that have a vision report on file, can renew on line.
For years I did mine on line so I never aged and had on the same outfit lol.
