Thank goodness this case was dropped for Alec Baldwin!!! It should never have been raised in the first place for him. Very happy for him and for our justice system.

This must be the end of the terrible accident as it has dragged on far too long.

Hopefully, everyone involved can heal and move on.

Enough.

Good. I have always thought it was a vendetta against Baldwin with nothing substantial to back it up. I got my wish- the trial was over quickly.

I have a feeling Alec Baldwin will have the best sleep of his life tonight.

TBH, I've not delved that deep into this case, but just curious--who do you think is responsible for Halyna Hutchins' tragic death?  Just the gun armourer?

@KKJ The person ultimately responsible is the one who put a live bullet in a prop gun.  There is speculation that there was tension on the set about the working conditions.

But the armorer's job is to handle the guns on the set.  So that person should have ensured the safety of the gun before it was given to the actor.

It was a fiasco.  A bleep fest because there was never a valid case against Baldwin.  They wanted there to be one, not because facts said but because he was Alex Baldwin.  It was completely political.  Lacking facts, they had to get creative and try to frame him.  It's nuts what these out of control prosecutors will do.

@LinmoI agree with you, the person who bought the ammunition and loaded it into the guns was ultimately responsible for loading live ammo into the revolver, not blanks.  Now whether that was solely the novice armorer or her and the person who took a plea deal as well or not, I don't know, but it's likely that Mr. Baldwin, or any of the other actors who were using guns in the movie were not even allowed to touch the bullets.  I have handled live rounds, but never blanks, so I don't know if there are obvious visual differences between blanks and live ammo or not, but if there are not, there sure should be!  Another thing I don't know is how true to the original model those movie six-shooters are.  I took a gun safety course a very long time ago, back when dinosaurs walked the earth, and I was taught that it was actually entirely possible for an old-West style revolver to fire without anyone pulling the trigger, once the hammer was cocked.  So Mr. Baldwin's insistence that he never pulled the trigger is entirely plausible to me, as I have seen admittedly old film footage of a gun going off just be being jarred, once that hammer was pulled back.  If you bumped them hard, let alone dropped them, they'd fire the round, as the hammer would just pop loose and fire the gun.  Either way, there was definiely a lot of sloppiness going around on that movie set, and a woman died, which is for sure a tragedy.  No amount of sloppiness, however, excuses the prosecution's not entering that piece of evidence into the case properly, and then sharing it with the defense.   The whole thing is so very sad.

I actually commend Alec and his family for their reaction in the courtroom. I was imagining how I would react if it had been me and the first thing that came to my mind was me doing David's happy dance shouting woot woot! Upon reflection I can see how that would be highly improper. Tears of relief and joy on the other hand seemed very appropriate.

What an enormous relief for Alec and his family!   Wow.
