One thing i remember vividly from childhood Easters. If it concerned candy andtreats it jumps to the my frontal lobe as if was yesterday. I am 72, so like many in my age group treats and candy were special back in the day. We just didnt have them often, usually holidays and birthday parties, unless I earned some change. Candy was a nickel and there still was pennylicorice. And bubblegum...maybe it was 2 cents.
Easter was the grand poobah, the stuff kids dream of. First the new Spring clothes. New shoes, usually shiny patent leather. A new hat and a fru fru dress. But it was the Easter candy. It was better than Halloween becausewe got to keep it all. Mom confiscated much of the halloween stuff. So the Easter basket in th morning, the candy from the Easter rolls at church, then the City had a big one,and then my Aunt Marthas. She was the Auntie Mame of The Bay Area, and a closet candy candy stasher. She lavished huge baskets upon us. I still see the pink cellophane and chocolate bunny and a overdoseof everything...plus a toy .. she was also a stasher of peeps after they came out, she had them all year round.
i remember no matter how much I dug through the straw months after Easter, there was not a jelly bean left to be had. I would carefully search the straw for just ONE piece of candy before putting basketaway for next year. But magically next Spring when I took basket out for the Bunny I wuld find at least one bean. Kind of like there always being one french fry at bottom of hamburger bag. Lol

We are speeding towards a new and inexplicable world.

I don't personally like to eat them, but I love the designs and cheerfulness of them! I love that they have branched out and make them for just about all occasions! My husband loves them and I buy them for him for about all holidays. He is one who always pokes holes in the packaging and lets them get hard and dry before he eats them. Beats me! If I would eat one, I would want it to be fresh and soft! That is a shame about having to hault temporarily production but it is better to be safe! It sure doesn't seem like most other candies have had any issues --- or have they????

Isn't that the way it is? Knowing that something is not available, makes you think about it all the more! Your idea is a good one and I think you are right --- that would probably be tasty and kids would love it also!

You are so funny. Never thought of hot choc. I love them out of the freezer. One time my grand daughter came to me with a loose tooth, I hate loose teeth, so in fun I told her to go away any chew on one of the peeps I brought, she did and it worked. She thinks I am a genius!

THis is indeed tragic news!
I'm seeing so many product lines being reduced, and various choices of their lines are not available as they deal with the Covid guidelines. I have to wonder if many of them will simply never bring back many of the lines they are now putting on hold.
But no peeps, oh my. I'll be in mourning for awhile over that.
