I recently started going to Aldi and I save at least 100.00 every time I go. I have kids so we go through snacks pretty quickly. I get my Kind Bar dupe from there for about 1.00 a piece, can't beat it! Also, they have organic coffee k cups and it tastes great, not weak even in a big cup. I like the seasonal break and bake scones, those were yummy! The produce is fresh at my stores and at much better prices then the local supermarkets. I've picked up a dozen small house wares, kids stuff from there and they were top notch. I'm funny about my meat, so I've never tried it bury sister swears by the pork chops. I've seen lots of gluten free items as well as organic. Just try it! Chances are, if it's a newer store it will be awesome! Don't forget to bring your freezer bag and other reusable bags. If you do forget, you can always buy some. They hold a lot and are reusable. I use my debit card with no problems there.

If you don't have a lot of time to spend, and care where your food comes from, Aldi's is NOT for you! It's stuff you've never heard of mostly, and so much is imported from China and Asia that for me it is really a waste of time and effort to go there. And so many of the products are snack like things we would never eat or buy that it isn't worth the effort.

I LOVE Trader Joe's.

I don't like Aldi's. The Aldi in my neighborhood is dirty, poorly lit and the products are sketchy. Things like butter, flour, staples are inexpensive and good.

Their produce is TERRIBLE and the frozen food is cheap and filled with preservatives. A lot of products come from Germany - the parent of both companies.

They charge per paper bag and don't take credit cards or checks - so they aren't convenient for me - I don't like to carry a lot of money.

Is that a problem for you?

Are you just trolling looking for something to "pounce" on, Feline ? She was only providing information but if she had said "I hate any food from Germany " , SO WHAT ?

I think Aldi is good for pantry staples ie. baking supplies, pasta, etc. I do not like their produce.

I agree with you rhinovodka, at least with my experience. We have an Aldi's in town, but it is older and small, not very updated although I think they are working on that. I never even stepped foot into it until a few months ago. It seems rather hit or miss. Somewhat good bargains on the pantry/baking/canned goods if you get them on their sales. Cereals and pastas, pickles and those type of things are okay. I have not been impressed with their produce at all. I would never be able to get all my grocery shopping done there. They are mostly frozen meats and microwave dinners. They don't have a good assortment of fresh meat/poultry/seafood. I have tried their greek yogurt and it's fine, but kind of hard to mess that up. They don't have a floral dept unless there is a holiday and then they offer flowers. I once got a dozen beautiful roses for $3 so that was a bargain. It's across town for me so it's not convenient and it's easier for me to shop at my main grocery chain. Unless I am in the area and have seen something advertised on sale in their flier, it's not worth it for me to bother with Aldi's.

I LOVE Aldi's..I admit I was an Aldi snob and thought it was a cheaper low class store.

My sister who has a large family to feed told me she loved the place and everything was wonderful. The majority of the items are their own brand but they do carry some name brands.

I bit the bullet and went! I LOVE the items and the prices..I love some of their weekly non food special. I have purchased lawn furniture, deck boxes, children's picnic table with umbrella $30 cheaper then anyplace on line..I go often to just look and see what non food items they have. Just bought a fantastic large stand Umbrella for the front porch for $49!

We love their Orange Juice in the clear container and will go especially for that. Their pizza's that you cook yourself (not frozen) are $4 cheaper then Sam's Club and just as fantastic..$4.99 for a large cheese pizza you put in the oven..I can go on and on.

I would not hesitate to try anything from them.

Our store is clean, well kept. I have only found a couple products I do not like.

I think like Walmart's it depends on the management and location. Our Store is clean and well kept.

Fruit is always fresh - I buy strawberries, bananas, apples, potatoes there often. Peppers are fantastic too. Their bagged salad (i know many don't like the bagged but works for me..) is a buck and just as good as Dole in the other stores. I think like many generics and off markets other companies make them under the Aldi label..such as somebody saying General Mills makes the cereals. My family loves them just as good as any.

I don't budget grocery wise per se and buy what we like/want but always want to save a few bucks like the next person.

Their version of chocolate candy is very good..their baking supplies are fantastic.

Like I said I was a name brand grocery snob until I gave it a try! Now it is on my places to shop.

I bought their plastic bags for ten cents and when I unload them..I put them in my trunk with a couple other recycle bags and frozen food bag and bring them in..If I leave them in the trunk I just buy a couple more..ten cents is not a biggie.

We like the steaks that are frozen and small ..filets you get four of them for $6.99 and fantastic..on the grill..

I buy their baby diaper wipes for 85 cents a package for my grandkids..I buy ten at a time as they are hard to find....they are always sold out..Pampers diapers too..!

Again it depends on the location it sounds...a brand new store has to be fantastic.

Also they pay their staff a decent wage..Cashiers START at $12 n hour..and Manager trainees $25.

Give it a try and if you don't like it ..you have nothing to lose..

There sliced spiral hams are fantastic..and fantastic priced...and ofen have $5 off them additionally!!

Thirty years ago the one I went to was as large as any other grocery store, and I did all of my weekly shopping there. The one near me now is 3 aisles, and maybe I walk out with 2-3 things when I venture in.

My father is from Germany.

My problem is that a lot of the food has the preservatives you would expect from food coming from Europe to America.

I like my stollen fresh from our local German bakery!

The first and last time I went to Aldi's there were fruit flies everywhere and the whole disorganized place smelled like spoiled milk.
