Remember the Toby Keith song that said I ain't as good as I once was,but I'm as good once as I ever was? I just realized I ain't as good once as I ever was. I am now in the stage I'm as good once in a while as I once was. Some days are just hard. Some days are harder than others. Losing physical stamina is a bummer. Aging gracefully isn't all it is cracked up to be.
My advice to all you younger "whippersnappers" is take each day, embrace it, and get the most enjoyment possible out of it. Don't spend time looking forward to tomorrow, or vacation, or retirement. Make the most out of whatever stage of life you are in.

I think a lot of us are familiar with the expression "getting old aint for sissies".
Weigh some limitations older people have to face and accept against their resilience and grit and ways to compensate and you have lots of seniors living strong, satisfying lives.
Joy and a sense of accomplishment are wherever you find it.

The unfortunate bit is that they won't listen - just like we didn't.
I am not a fan of country western music, so I haven't heard that song. But boy am I learning the lessons of 'gettin' old' these days.
My memory is just about gone. I have cognitive breaks and get confused often. It's going downhill fast!
One thing that's a real drag is that it seems like much of what I've forgotten, from my own life, is the good stuff. Yet, the bad stuff stays in there forever, it would seem.
I sure wish I could switch that around.
But, when I was young I remember thinking - wow, old people sure say a lot of weird stuff. Well, now I know it was all true. Sometimes I say something to somebody younger in hopes that they'll 'hear' it and make the best of their time, but I cannot help wonder if they are thinking the same thing I was when I was young.

@chickenbutt If you have the technical skills that I lack, do a search for that song and listen to it. It will give you a chuckle. Meanwhile, keep posting. We enjoy your contributions.

I hear you!
I love what a beautiful 90 year old friend of mine says-
She doesn't think about what she can't do anymore, but instead is grateful for the things she can still do.

Along the same lines..... Reminds me of when my children were babies and we would wish they were out of diapers and/or learn to walk and talk already and people would say how we shouldn't rush it. Enjoy the time because they grow up so fast. Which is so true. You just blink and they are grown. 👶👶

@chickenbutt Here's a taste of the song for you. It's kind of a long song but:
