@Annabellethecat66, ITA with you! I google or search everything, even ask stupid questions, and usually always come up with a good answer, Google is your friend!![]()

I told her one day that I wasn't her Google Monkey.
I think she stopped speaking to me for a week.
OMG!! There is not a font size large enough for LOL to describe how I reacted to "Google Monkey" I just hope no one down the hall from my office heard me. The nets will be sent. I will have to remember that one.
I wrote about Google Monkey about a month ago.
Great minds think alike!

@ChynnaBlue Yes! That was my point. I google the question exactly as it is asked. Of course you have to weed through the junk, it takes minutes. People are paid good money to put someone's 'stuff' on the front page because often that's as far as people go. I go several pages into google. From google I go into the pages. After awhile and if you stay up on current affairs you can often tell the lies and junk, I find it just often reinforces what I suspect is the answer.
You've have to be gullible to believe everything (no matter where it is) you see and hear. I haven't "met" anyone here that does that. Most people here are intelligent and mainly want reinforcement into what they usually have an idea is right or wrong.
I posted this this morning because I actually had a few people ask me how I find answers to questions and giving me credit that I don't deserve. I wanted those who are unfamiliar with using google to use it.
I meant this to be a very generic post. I didn't address it to anyone, just generally. I hope it is taken that way.
@ChynnaBlue I know you understand what I'm trying to get across and you've read my posts and also know I'm not the best at relaying my thoughts. You've been known to 'help' me out. Ha!
Perhaps I should have said, "Danger...don't believe everything you read on google". The beauty of google (there are other search engines) is that they offer many websites you can go to. Be careful where you click on to. Make sure your security is up to date, it should help you. Check and clear your computer of cookies often.

@sidsmom I was in a hurry going to the Drs and I didn't feel like I needed to specify where to go. I don't remember seeing this specifically addressed and I have been meaning to approach this subject for some time.
I didn't mean my post to be tutorial, just a suggestion, that's all. Thanks for taking the time to show others where they can go.

Yes, as another poster said, I am assuming this post about Google was tongue in cheek. Kind of like telling people how to brush their teeth. People have been using google forever.

It's called google! I simply go to the top of my computer and ask the exact same question posted here and poof! Up comes the answer(s).
It's easy really... If I can do it...anyone can. What I know about computers would fit on the end of my pinky finger.
Welcome to the 21st century.

Sorry, I have to disagree. You have to be knowledgeable enough to know your sources. Also, check more than one source, compare and contrast.
Wiki will footnote their data, a good thing.

I know where you're coming from, @151949, but I know where @Noel7 is too.
When it comes to anything gossipy or political, as just two examples ya gotta verify from several sources, preferably well-known sources.
When it comes to science, medical or otherwise, you're generally on firmer ground as there are more trusted sources online to check and cross-check.
All we can do is investigate and cross-check to the best of our ability through sources WE trust, make our case, and then let it go. My feeling about this stuff is that if *I* am pretty sure, i.e. "know" I have a correct "answer/opinion", I will state *my*opinion of fact, and if others challenge it, I've said my thoughts already. There's no point (on a forum or in person) in back-and-forth head-whacks. If I've done my due diligence, I feel comfortable with my opinion/fact and that's all that matters to me. I'm not the dead-horse type.
This is all JMO. I agree in part with both of you.

FYI, google can link us to science journals and academic articles, studies.
Original sources are often online, even more available than going to your usual library. You don't need to be any more skeptical of those sources than you would be with the copy at your library.
It's about knowing how to do research.
