And at our house that can only mean one thing. The beginning of the annual Battle of the Thermostat!

I prefer about 66 to 68 degrees and my husband likes a toasty 72 to 74 range. Every year I tell him that he can put on a sweater if it is a bit cool in the house but there is NOTHING I can do when it is so hot that I am dripping wet from the heat. I have to go outside and sit just to cool off once in a while.

It is really rather amusing and has been going on for over 30 years. He gets up at dark de dark so he has the upper hand on first dibs. UP goes the heater. I get up soon after because the bedroom is sooooo hot. I get my coffee, slide down the hall, quietly open the thermostat and FLIP the lever down lower, closing the cover and move on. All done in a very fluid, quick movement. Now my husband doesn't hear very well but he ALWAYS hears that little lever click!

So, a little later i will hear HIM slide down the hall and I hear the little click as he RAISES the heat up again. And back and forth we go as the day progresses. Neither of us saying anything about it, anymore, just turning it up and down.

Now mind you...we don't live in an area of extreme heat OR extreme cold and snow. So this is pretty minor but it has become a Fall tradition. How goes the thermostat at YOUR house?
