@lincolnite Hmmm. Well, I'm married, not widowed or divorced and over 50. I had great job security and retired from a very good job. And really, I'll spend my own money on any "over priced" cosmetic and clothing I darn well want to.

@lincolnite. Who rattled your cage? We don't need someone, a stranger, telling what not to buy.
I've been on my own for over 40 years, have bought 3 houses and spend lots of money on clothes, shoes, handbags. I'm doing just fine and don't need financial advice. I'd suggest you keep yours to yourself.
Your post is offensive..

This marketing ploy is done deaf. Women of 50 or more are likely to be divorced or widowed. Job security is a joke as advancement is limited and lay offs more likely. Money should not be spent on over priced cosmetics or clothing that is either too casual or too costly. Wonder why profits were down. Not a mystery.
Let's see. I'm over 50, married and just got promoted at work. And I spend money here and everywhere.
Also profits were down, but they also eliminated $400m in debt, so a win win.

@lincolnite Unfortunately a lot of men and women are in the situation you describe above. And in those cases many of us, enough money or not, do waste a lot on things we don't need.
And with grocery prices, housing and insurance, medical, a lot of people are going to have to do more with less. I am sorry for anyone in that position. Breaks my heart too to see how some big charities waste money but don't get me started on that. I try to be careful about where I donate these days.

I have always managed my money well. I know how and where to cut back if I need to.
Many businesses profits go up and down. The Q has to do what they have to do.
A person does not have to buy or even watch. Many places to shop within a persons budget.

There are some nice "gentleman's farms" just north of where I live...but I just can't spare the $8 Million...
To tell ya the truth, I bought enough clothes at "years' end clearance" to last the rest of my life...

I understand until...money should not be spent because I decide that & everything I buy from Q is on clearance or as is. The Age Of Possibility marketing idea is a no go for me & when I hear - see it I'm reminded my possibilities are out living the money I have & death so its not surprising my Q purchases have declined.

Well I am well over 50 been divorced since I was 36 still working full time and I do not spend my money on much of anything that does not have salt or sugar in it.
