Re: After the virus passes, or for whatever comes after it, has your bucket list changed?

I don't have a bucket list but I would love to take a real vacation again.  I don't remember what one is it's been so long.

No bucket list!!  I am too invested in experiencing the joys of daily life positively even if just sitting outside reading.  I know too many who live for what can be doing tomorrow and miss today because they are always planning and adding to their to do in life bucket lists.

While I think it's perfectly fine to have a bucket list I too try to appreciate life daily.  It's all in your frame of mind really.    I've been fortunate to have traveled a fair amount in my life and would love to travel again in the near future.   But depending on how things go with this new life style we have all been thrown into,  not sure how that will transpire......I have many friends who just keep adding to that "list" but never seem to cross anything out.

Now they are kicking themselves.  I always tried to tell them to go while you can, what are you waiting for?........ but there was always an excuse.    Me, I am happy with what I've done and do hope I am able to do and see a lot more in the future Smiley Happy

My bucket list has always consisted of certain books I want to read.

Since I retired several  years ago, and now, with the stay-at-home recommendations, I have been doing very well with my quest. Since my brain aneurysm in 2006, I have read nearly 1700 books.

This is the best time of my life!

@qualitygal   Re: Bucket Lists. When I was young, I wished for many things in my future. Now that I look at my life, I've already seen most of those come to fruition...marriage, children, grandchildren, careers, financial security, travel, good health (so far)...Not going to tempt fate and ask for more.

I don't believe for one moment that all those kicking the bucket list (pun intended) never wished to do something different, felt a tug at their heart/soul when they saw something they have not done, or have never made a plan in their lives.

While I have no list, I mentioned something I would like to do.  That doesn't mean I'm wasting my life away not enjoying the moment and not appreciating all that has come to pass in my life-good AND bad.

Should the terminally ill person just sit around watching the sun set?

The term "bucket list" is being taken way too seriously and off course.

One can want to do something in life without giving up living in the moment.

All this monastic thinking-lmao.

I'm with you @Laura14  The last real vacation we took was when our son was 10, we took him to Disney World. Today is our son's birthday, he is 25. Yikes

Nope - never did have a tug at my heart/soul for anything.  Too busy living life.  The only plans I have are going out to eat with friends or family get togethers or going to a sporting event but those are for the here and now life.  I enjoy what is my present and do not dream about things that could be and probably are never going to happen.  I have seen too many who live in a dream world and become increasingly unhappy  with their present.   If I wanted to do something I did it in the present.

SO, although I found out yesterday that I wouldn't have a live tuba lesson in the near future, I decided that I'd start my lesson book from the beginning and for the time being, adopt the discipline of adding a page or two as soon as I can handle the pages before effectively, and pushing forward to the day when I can get back to lessons again.

My goal, playing upper grade wind ensemble and brass ensemble music when this cataclysm is resolving again, remains clear and focused. The way to get there needs a flexibility tweaking, so I'm doing that.

FULL SPEED AHEAD!

TUBA  lesson! Do you have a tuba? That is so exciting to read.

My nephew played in the Ravens (Baltimore football team) band for years. He also played the tuba. And he also participated in Tuba Christmas.

I hope you reach your goal. Keep us posted.

I have more of a daily bucket list these days:  Stay home when possible, budget my finances in a resposible fashion, and attend to my health needs as best I can.
