I'm home late tonight and this is a long thread that I've skimmed.  So I may have missed something.

My opinion....I've also had many complaints with my long time home newspaper delivery service.  Some complaints were about not receiving the paper at all (usually on Sundays, where the paper costs more)   other complaints we're about billing issues.  I'd been issuing my complaints for a one year period, didn't think of being anonymous.  Long story short...things didn't improve and I cancelled my subscription two weeks ago.

I don't really miss it!  I watch the morning TV news instead, while I browse the online news on my tablet.  I do pick up the Sunday edition from the box in front of the post office while out on my morning walk.  $1.50/week vs what I spent for home delivery every day!  I think I win here!

Do the papers have a guaranteed delivery morning time?

I have never heard of it. I could see it was delivered at noon or not delivered.

We discontinued our daily local newspaper...price went up to $600+ a year. We didn’t have time to read the entire paper and dh gets USA TODAY which I really like better...more national news in succinct manner, no fluff, no grocery store or other pamphlets inside that I get online. I read it by 8 and then dh takes it to the office...catches up during breaks & clients enjoy it while waiting.

Wow!! We never a timed paper, or mail delivery.  We got it when it was delivered.  I'd say you have pretty darn good delivery if you can get it at a set time.  I've never even heard of that before.  We get our news on line.  Haven't received the paper in years now.

@qualitygal After we canceled local paper, didn’t miss it at all. There is rarely any good news...enough bad news online or from 6-7 on tv.

....I disagree, the supervisor could have noted a specific neighborhood to  the delivery person.....and if there is a window of time for the paper to be delivered, then it should be delivered ON TIME, unless of course, there are circumstances like weather, press break down, etc.  other than that I want the paper at the time it was promised when I subscribed, pretty simple to me.

Having that eary morning quiet time to yell about important issues in the morning paper is the best way to start every day.  LOL Sounds like the delivery person isn't a morning person and their supervisor isn't paying enough attention.  Other than tearing your hair out, maybe leaving the delivery person a tip/incentive with a note asking please be on time?  I tend to try the honey alternative to get what I want at least once.  I doubt they can be consistent, though.  You can't be the ony frustrated customer on this person's route.

That's exactly right for many people.  There's a lot more to the 'daily news' than what we hear on tv - local stories and politics, science, arts, a lot more than just 5 minute headlines.  No one should feel like he/she should cancel because the newspaper customer service dept did not honor her request.

OP simply asked if anyone was in a similar situation.

Those delivery people don’t make much money and they use their own vehicles. The person we had drove a really beat up loud car.I am assuming that the days he was late delivering had good reasons eg...car troubles, traffic, illness and so forth. That is a really poor paying job that starts in the wee hours of the morning so I give the guy credit for do8ng it.He did get the paper most of the time on time and I only called if he forgot our house. We read the news online now mostly because the paper kept losing size but price never stopped increasing.

OP look at this as a blessing in disguise. Cancel your paper delivery altogether. Why get yourself so upset over somthing so small? It's not worth it. Log on to your news on-line and you'll be able to view it at any time of the day. I loved getting the morning newspaper years ago but times have changed. I'm much happier reading the paper on-line at my convenience.

We don't all want to live our lives online. I read newspapers online but would prefer a paper to hold in my hands & in any body position I choose, or any location. We all have our preferences and we all have things, large & small that drive us crazy.

although i do read a lot of news online, i do prefer to have a newspaper to hold also......two, in fact, that get delivered together. the baltimore sun and the wall street journal.

if i get bad service i do file a complaint, either online or via a phone call to the paper or to the carrier. no, i am not afraid to ask to  get what i pay for.
