Unfortunately all things must pass. If it were me, I would cancel the paper and develop a new morning routine

@reiki604, haha, maybe my husband and I could just shout random things at each other over coffee instead of stuff from the news. :-)

Re: Afraid of complaining?

[ Edited ]

@suzyQ3I was just curious about what time the paper hits the newsstands?  Maybe if one is not far, you can pick it up yourself as soon as it's available.  Not ideal but at least wont have to deal with late deliveries.

I have a similar issue with wanting to stay anonymous with a complaint about our mail carrier, major fail with that but I didn't want anyone going postal on me.

The carrier approached me with so you've been complaining about me!!  I was frozen in my tracks and said nothing thinking not confirming or denying he would just walk away, which didn't work.  After his belligerence I complained about that to his supervisor.  It went like this, "you told the carrier who it was complaining and now he's getting in my face about it though my complaint is 100% legitimate.  The supervisor's response was, no...we only give out the address.

There's just no way to be anonymous when you have a complaint.

I agree with others that the part that really irks me is how they didn't keep you anonymous, as you requested AND as they said that they did anyway.  What the heck?     That's really messed up.

Obviously, the other biggest sukky thing is this carrier who does not give one whit about doing the job properly and it seems that no matter what will continue not doing the job properly.

I wish I had answers, but I can commiserate and wanted to say 'hey'.

@Cakers3  Great humor!! And wise suggestions to a world problem.

@BirkiLady, "world problem"? Hardly. A post about complaint concerns on a message board? Yes.

Not everything we post about is monumental here. I cite the Beauty or Fashion forums as evidence.

@elated, I was going to reply in the same way to your post but thought this would be more economical. :-)

Good grief, that's scary, @puttypiesmom.

Yes, many here have recommended going out to get a paper. That's just not my cup of tea unless I could somehow manage to do it in my PJs. The e-paper is a more palatable solution if we decide to cancel. But it just won't be the same. One option might be to subscribe only to the Sunday paper.

My suggestion is a compromise ..... keep the morning ritual with your honey,  but switch newspapers.

Excellent idea, @Tinkrbl44, but not going to happen. I've read the LAT since I was in elementary school, back in the dark ages. It's now a much better paper than ever that gives us both national and local news. It's been the only LA area newspaper for many years now. Certainly there are many other excellent newspapers, but they wouldn't give us the local news.

You want to bash and trash the delivery guy but you didn't want him to know it was YOU.  Is that what you are saying?  If you made a complaint about delivery they were going to tell him what house so, of course, he would know it who complained.  It's a paper.  Paper delivery in my area does not have "a strict delivery time" to adhere to.  Good grief, it's not like those guys have time clock job.  Also a windo of 20 to 40 minutes sounds like excellent service to me.  It's not like you have to wait unti 11 or 12 to get your paper.  What do you think the guy is going to do?

I so wanted to say the same thing.   This is something so trivial to say the least.  I wish my problems were as tiny as this one

I think it is possible that the paper delivery person may of had a good reason for not being on your time table. He could be held up because of a flat tire/ car trouble Or road construction (our road had many delays due to road construction). How about cutting a little slack. You got your paper so you got what you paid for just not when you thought you should.

I learned to be the 'squeaky wheel' and I make my displeasure known in a very polite way.  And if something is wrong and I cannot get a resolution I just call back and keep calling until someone will see it my way.  I am paying and I am the customer and I deserve to be heard.  Period.

But I have been very lucky I have had few problems.  I just want to make sure I get treated fairly.
