Advise About Lafayette, LA

Anyone living or has lived in Lafayette? Would love to know your thoughts on the city. Which area(s) best to live in. Crime rates. Etc. My best friend is considering moving there for business and is thinking of an upscale condo. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
