Young man that is a family friend recently became a father (on birth certificate) to girlfriend's son. Both parents are young adults but child's mother can't leave her very dysfunctional family so she and baby are living with them. There is meth and pot smoking in this home plus 8 people (including young baby) living in 1400 sq ft home. Another member of household (freshman in H.S.) is living in the home with her adult boyfriend. House is filthy, water was turned off recentlly for one day plus. My friend, the young man, left the city in order to find employment to support his son. What are his rights? How does he proceed to get maximum possible custody of child (there is a fit home and sufficient resources to support/care for child). Is it possible he could take the child out of state (even if there was a necessity for visitation).
