I just thought of something. It would be interesting to have singers compete and sing something from each genre. It would be interesting to hear their version of a jazz, pop and so on song.
I think that would be a way of coming closer to judging a good singer but maybe not. I guess that would be subjective too, if I think about it.
Lately a lot of singers are singing other people's songs on their own album. I've heard several versions on the radio. It's always interesting to hear another singer sing a song I'm familiar with when it's been so popular, then hear it differently (phew, what a run on sentence....sorry).
Do any of you have any songs you can think of that have been sung (and sound differently by other singers)?
I know Kanye West is a popular rap singer but I've heard him sing (really sing) and I think he sounds terrible. My favorite guy is Eminem but he can't sing either (that I've heard).
There are a few rappers who actually can sing. I guess it works both ways. Like can you imagine Adele rapping? Ha!

@Annabellethecat66----They don't need a singing contest, but it would be fun!!! Like AmericanIdol. I won't be watching when Aretha is on. Don't like her caterwauling. Adele, Celine, Enya, CHER, Mahalia, DellaReese,TINA TURNER, DianaRoss, but NOT Aretha.
Somewhere over the Rainbow is a song I have hated , yes, HATED, all my life of hearing it..One night I was watching an episode of PROVIDENCE with Melinia Kanakardis????. There was a song as a song-over like voice-over. It was the Rainbow being sung sooo beautifully. Isearched like crazy until I found it was Isreal Kamawa......BRUDDAH IZ singing the song with Wonderful World in the middle. That was a song I played to my GS when when he was a baby. When he received a table at the ripe old of 6yrs, he put that in the tablet first thing.---------enough.-----------------ted

@Goodie2shoes @tedEbear I know they sound different. I agree. That's what I was saying. It would be fun to see singers singing songs different from what they usually sing. Making it more 'their own'.

I LOVE IZ!!!!!!!' ![]()
And I love his version of Over The Rainbow. Oh, he was wonderful. Youtube has a video of his funeral, heartbreaking. What a loss for so many 😞

@Annabellethecat66-----Did you ever watch AI the early years? Simon, Paula, and Randy.......Next week pick a singer and song "MAKE IT YOUR OWN!!!" The next week, "NOBODY can do Michael,Mariah< WHitney, blah, blah, blah". Those kids could never get it right, same would happen with the established singers, I'm guessing, still fun.--ted

She has a nice voice and unique style. However, I find her songs depressing and repetitive in topic. Her songs tend to bring me down.

@tedEbear I know you're right. I guess I started thinking about that when I saw "The Best" singer.
I know that the 'in' thing now is for other singers to sing together and to record other songs.
I would guess they'd mainly sing songs that are in their genre.
It would be fun though, wouldn't it.
Also, I watched AI from the very beginning. I do remember when they sang different songs. Some of them sounded very good and some stunk.

This has nothin' to do with Adele, but it might be a good time and place to ask this question. Does anyone else think it would be fun to have a forum dedicated to MUSIC? We seem to have fun whenever someone starts a music-related thread. It's one of my favorite hobbies, and I would love to have the opportunity to chat and share fun memories with the many folks on here. Thoughts?
