I'd like to state that the rifles uses in combat do have the semi-auto option and are indeed assault rifles. But, they also have the full auto and 3 round burst options, too. If the only choice on a civilian AR is semi-automatic, it does not meet the definition of assault rifle.

Corvettes are cars, but not all cars are corvettes.

A revolver is a pistol, but not all pistols are revolvers.

RE: slidefire. It uses the bumpfire concept. It doesn't allow you to do anything you couldn't do without the product. Its a marketing ploy. It allows you to fire rapidly, but it doesn't make the rifle full auto.
