We live at the Jersey shore. I can confirm many people have summer homes, ranging from tiny bungalows to luxury villas.

As another poster pointed out, some of these vacation shore houses have been in the family for generations.

I suppose the OP and some others on this thread think everyone wears cheap pocketbooks and own only a pair of shoes,,and wear drug store makeup and live in cracker box houses. ${#emotions_dlg.laugh}$

I don't think I've ever bought anything from Jill. I never enjoyed watching her because I felt like she was lecturing me in that singsong monotone she has.

I just heard Jane Tracey say that she has a summer beach condo. So she is one of the Many with summer homes.

Of course we have a summer home! We love it so much that we CHOOSE to live here year round. It is close to my mom, close to the kids and grand kids...We are very blessed!

I think you have to also consider where many of the hosts live, which is just outside Philadelphia. I grew up in the area, living on the other side of the country now. But I can say that many in the Philadelphia suberbs own property at the Jersey Shore. It is very close to philly. Now whether it is a single family home, or condo, is a different story. But also consider that many who do have single family homes at the shore as a second home, have had them in the family for years and years and years. It is something that gets passed down through wills. Also, while many have a place down the shore, many rent the property too when not being used by family. And still, many family's "go in" together to buy homes down there. So the cost is not really that expensive for a second home when you think in terms of several families splitting the cost of the home.
