I find the thought of more than one home overwhelming. I would be wondering what was going on when I wasn't there and was my stuff OK. Even if I had staff to care for them all I still would rather have one base and then gad about where I like. Having to go to the same place every summer seems such a bore. But I agree that they're just trying to make it seem as if all the listeners are wealthy women.

On 3/5/2015 ROMARY 1 said:'Many' seems ok to me. I wouldn't feel the same about using 'Most', though. 'Many' could mean 'several' or 'some', I'm thinking. I sometimes use 'Many', but I usually slash it like this: Most/many. Maybe J should have used 'Some' instead. Still, saying 'Many' doesn't seem to bother me, yet/so far. p.s. I learned something today. I'll probably start using 'Some' instead of 'many' from now on.
There's clearly a social sensitivity to class levels these days, more so than in times past.
The comments about never buying anything from Jill's shows reminded me of when online shopping became common, a woman I know proudly stated she would never shop online, as if it is beneath her.
What causes people to think that way? Class self-distinction and distinction of others, as well seems more obvious lately. Jill was simply speaking to those two separate and mixed classes, those who can afford anything they want and those who have the summer homes.
She'll sell to everyone as much as she possibly can. Just listen for it. You all know your table ware is looking scratched and dull, right? For 5 EZ payments . . .

Perhaps Jill was referring to her circle of professional friends at QVC .....
It seems plausible that the married QVC hosts have a spouse making at least a decent wage as well, so with real estate prices down the past few years, I'm guessing "many" might have bought income property.
I don't know which vendors have more than one home, but Isaac talks about his Hamptons home occasionally, so Judith Ripka, Lori Grenier, Dr Denese etc etc could also have them. No biggie.

I can't worry about what hosts say. They're bound to offend someone at any given time...

Very true and if you are on live TV for many hours a day, a month and a year...someone will be offended by something you have said.

Yes, it possibly depends on certain areas. A hundred years ago, when I was young, there weren't many 'apt. buildings' (in my working class neighborhood, med. sized city). Yet, because land and property was almost 'dirt cheap', several (maybe even many (but not most) folks owned small, Summer cottages/cabins/rustic shacks about 30+ miles away, usually near water/lakes/etc. (We didn't, but some did). Also, I'm thinking that the population was much lower in those days. And I'll have to say that 'most' (not many or some) had jobs.
