And he will die with no conviction and the Patriots will be forced to pay out his contract to his survivors. Disgusting.

Born to Shop,  as I watched the Patriots and their owner/coach bask in glory today at the White House, all I could think of was what twist of fate - perversion of one's nature? -- whatever it was -- had the Patriot family celebrating joyfully on the same day that a former teammate took his own life.

What took Aaron Hernandez down another, horrific path?  Push me off the boards for being an old fogie, but I think that when a young and impressionable population ingests much violence and not too much spiritual and aesthetic beauty, personalities become estranged, unloving, sociopathic.

I put a lot of what has destroyed the American fabric that held together so many noble generations at the feet of Madalyn Murray O'Hair..  I feel I must hasten to add that I am not a Bible-thumper, but disseminating loving thoughts of compassion and goodness had a salutary effect on most.  Higher-minded thoughts that inspire us to do better, help others and love our fellow man have a definite effect.  Their absence also has an effect.

Also to blame -- BIG TIME! -- are Hollywood and all the art forms that have celebrated cruelty, ugliness, grossness and fostered contempt for one's fellow man.  I know, I know, many are now angry with me, but you've only to look at some of the films from the 1940s or listen to music from previous eras to know that what the folks at that time heard, saw and learned was on a more refined level.  There was a kind refinement and love apparent that is missing now.  This is not to say that there are no longer works of art that are sensitive to the "human condition" and inspire, but they are uncommon, I think.

Okay, I said my piece.

Aaron Hernandez was born in the hood, was "raised" in the hood and was a hoodlum. Madalyn O'Hare and Hollywood had nothing to do with it.

@proudlyfromNJ  He had the opportunity to get out of the hood when he was young - and he chose to remain trash. He was born a thug, he enjoyed a thug life and he died a thug. Good riddance.

I agree 100%. I didn't think he minded prison. He felt right at home. Some people want to better themselves and some are happy to be trash.

And for the record, to anyone that thinks the absence of religion led to his downfall, he was very religious and died with a bible verse written in blood on his forehead. He twisted religion for his own perverse justification of his crimes. He felt he was "the chosen one."

Oh he didn't!  He fit right in. He died as some type of gangster "sacrifice" - his lawyers are going to exploit an archaic law - A loophole and make sure his thug girlfriend and daughter end up with a $46 million nest egg - after the lawyers get their cut, of course.

Yes I don't see how the r word and Hollywood have anything to do with it.

It seems that the biggest downfall of his life, other than the decisions he made, was the death of his father when he was sixteen. But other people suffer those losses and don't turn to what he turned to. And they don't have the advantages that he had either-NFL career, money, mansion, secure future if he played his cards right.

Sadly though he couldn't even change for his daughter, she was a baby when he killed Odin Lloyd. So she had already lost her father then, lost him again to prison, and lost him today for good. And left at least Odin Lloyd's family devastated, more families if you believe he killed the other men.
