It's official: AT&T and Time Warner have agreed to a $85-billion deal in one of the biggest media co...
The move will help AT&T expand beyond wireless and Internet service into programming. Time Warner is the parent of CNN, TNT, HBO, Warner Bros., and other channels and websites.
The deal will be subject to a review by government regulators that could take more than a year.

Wow, they are buying up all the "little" cable providers. I don't know about the rest of you, but I discovered that we are paying WELL over $300 a month for TV and phone. I think that is waaay too much. We don't have smartphones or iphones either. And, we also do not have the package with a lot of TV stations either. Anyone have any suggestions? I feel that is really too high, especially since we are on a fixed income.

I pay $120.00 for AT&T Uverse TV and Internet. No home phone. I'm concerned that their customer service will be awful, if they buy Time Warner. I left them because they were so rude. We are getting high speed fiber from AT&T and Google Fiber at the end of the year. I hope the competition hold costs down.

Sadly, if they keep buying up companies, there won't be anymore competition.

I was at the car dealersip watching CNBC discuss the purchase. The color drained from their faces!
It's believed cable tv will eventually become internet streaming and/or you'll be able to get a concierge package of cable packages with limited channels to suit your taste.
Of course, that means less ad dollars for them to pay these schmucks.
I cut the cord. I bought a Mohu Leaf antenna with 50 mile range for $65 at Best Buy. Even as rural as I live, I get 12 local broadcast stations. All for free in HD.
