Actually yes. When people are hopped up on drugs, you don't know what they think or what they would do. I wouldn't answer the door if this relative came to my house and I was home alone.

Sounds like you and I are in similar situations Mima. I understand exactly what you are saying. I don't live in constant fear but I prefer to never see or hear from this individual ever again. Nothing would surprise me about this person either.

No. I'm a pretty good judge of character, I don't own any rose colored glasses. If someone in my life harbored that level of hatred for me, I would know it. And that person wouldn't be in my life and wouldn't be knocking at my door at 1am or any other time.

There are family members we are terrified of. His side and mine. Hopefully they don't know our address, but they can get it from our parents. If we open the door to them .... we will not turn our back and they won't like our response to their "visit".

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."

CRYSTAL.....I wondered about exactly what you wrote. This woman's son is a practicing psychologist and the dead woman seemed to be very life involved. You would think that she or her son would have had some sort of feeling that things were not right. Some times we ignore our instincts because they seem so far fetched.

No, I live in a safe quiet community. I am married and my husband travels a lot and I need to feel safe, and I do. There are a lot of single older woman who live in my community as well for the same reason. I know no where is perfect, however one of my neighbors left for a month on a trip and somehow forgot to not only lock her front door but left it open! Our neighbors noticed it well after three weeks called the police, nothing was taken and no entry! A nice testament to our area. But again, I am still careful and lock doors during the day and night.

Thanks, ennui....I should have thought to do that. This story really bothered because of the implied trust in the relationship. To some part of our society nothing matters.
