@esmerelda my MIL passed away in October 2019, she got 1200.00 and I sent it back in May and it finally cleared the bank today.
Oh by the way.. she was far from being rich.
@Suziepeach I wish everyone was like you. I think many put it in the bank to wait for the Government to ask for it back. Well, if they ask for it, it means they know it wasn't supposed to be sent out, and they DID send it out...so how will they know it was a mistake unless someone tells them?
Anyway, I don't doubt that your MIL wasn't rich. "Rich" people didn't qualify for the check. But "rich" really is a relative/subjective term that is often intended to be an insult.
