In Florida where the age of the population is very high of course there would be a higher rate of people with cancer.Same in Pittsburgh, where the population is also older. Also, I would think that sun exposure over a lifetime would be a factor in all those southern states.

My DD was diagnosed with cancer in May-June of 016, surgery was done September 016. Now it is yearly full body scans to see if the cancer ever comes back. This came out of the woodwork, she never ever smoked (dh and I are not smokers--we were but quit long before DD was born).
Years ago Delaware was known as the cancer capital.

That was my first thought----I thought we were #1 too.

Something seems very suspect about this list. If you read the blurbs that matched each state, many of them focused on prostate and breast cancer along with lung cancer. But it was like they were making general statements about those cancers, not that those were the leading causes of cancer in those states. It was like there was an agenda behind this list.
I would think Florida for example would be high in skin cancer yet that isn't mentioned.

@viva923, I'm very sorry about your daughter. I'm assuming based on your post that your daughter was diagnosed with lung cancer? Lung cancer can be caused by many things other than smoking.
My good friend's mom was diagnosed with lung cancer over the summer. She never smoked and neither did her husband. However, she has worked inside a very old building for years and years. They believe her's is environmental, possibly from what is in that old building.

I was thinking the same thing!
I am glad we aren't on there but in some parts of our state there is some "interesting" stuff going on!
Where I used to live at night sometimes the air had a smell of chemicals.
The water was undrinkable even with a filter.
I didn't realize how bad it was until I moved away from it.

One's most likely state for cancer is their parents. That is, genetics.
