Re: ANYONE WATCHING THE US OPEN GOLF?

I've been glued to the tv for 4 days, non stop golf. We love watching it.

I think Jason Day's performance has been nothing short of remarkable. I have vertigo. I honestly don't know how he's doing this. I tip my hat to him.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: ANYONE WATCHING THE US OPEN GOLF?

I lived right down the road from there in Steilacoom, Wa. 6 years. This was a rock quarry that was abandoned in 2002. I have shoveled many a truck load of sand from there for my yard and son's sandbox. DH is an avid golfer, and this course is designed for skill. I love they have left elements of the quarry there. Hated to leave Stelicoom as we had built our home overlooking the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains, but DH's job took him Oklahoma.

I usually do not watch Golf because it is mostly boring.  But this year it is anything but boring.  The course is extremely tough and hard to negotiate.  It is separating the men from the boys with the boys doing the best.  A couple of players have lost caddies to injury because of the rugged terrain.  One player, Jason Day, fell down from Vertigo but is still playing.   The course is mainly brown with maybe one tree.  It is rather ugly and resembles marshland.  Yesterday some building caught on fire.  Also there is a train that goes by every few minutes.  But when you look up it is the most beautiful view of Mt Rainier.  It is breathtaking.

The course is rather ugly isnt it, so brown for this beautiful 'Evergreen' state. My husband says it was designed to resemble a 'Scottish course' but I think something went wrong with the grass(es) they used. The greens arent even green or smooth.

The view out my living room and extended out on my deck is Mt. Rainier. She is the most beautiful in the early morning when the sun rises, her glacers just glisten pinks and purples, she is a glorious sight for sure.   Smiley Happy

Anyone who thinks golf is boring has never watched it, or gone to a tournament.  It is great!  I love Jordan Speith, he is a class act.  There are so many exciting golfers today.  It is truly a gentlemen's (or ladies) game.  Class Act!

Re: ANYONE WATCHING THE US OPEN GOLF?

Thanks for all your responses.  I heard that the golf course is not very old and was designed to be a challenge.  similar to St Andrews in Scotland.  Some golfers complained the greens were in very bad shape but the winners didn't seem to mind.

I am so impressed by Jordan Spieth.  I watched his press conference.  What a gentleman.  He speaks like he has the wisdom and knowledge of a 50 year old person, not a 21 year old.  So level headed.  I listened while he praised  his family and his caddie.  What a blessing and kudos to his parents for raising such a nice person.  He already has set up a charity for children with special needs.  I am not sure but I think his sister has special needs.

I was not too impressed with Dustin Johnson.  The announcers were saying he would not do the press conference nor come to the award ceremony.  They were surpised at this because most all the famous golfers throughout time did this.

I think we are going to be hearing from Jordan Spieth for many years.

Now I am looking forward to the British Open.

BTW.  I tuned back and forth to the Phillies.  They won.  Amazing.  lol

I think she was joking.  The Phillies are having the worse year in history.  I am still a fan though.  I hope they get rid of Ryne Sandberg and Ruban Amaro.

Me too and he had an excellent chance.  I was flabbergasted when he missed the Birdie put.  Not like him.
