Wednesday's American Idol Results Finale naming Scotty McCreery the winner posted it's highest Results Finale ratings since 2008 when David Cook was crowned the winner!
29.3 million people watched during the two hours - and between 10:00pm and 10:07pm when Scotty was named the winner a staggering 38.6 million people tuned in! Viewership Wednesday was up 21% from last season's Results' show.
It was the first time in three years that viewership rose from the previous year for all ages - and the first time in five years that it rose among 18-49 year-olds!
In 2009 - the Adam/Kris year - the Results' Finale drew a little over 28 million. Last year's show had about 24 million. And in 2008 the show had about 31 million viewers.
So it was a good night for Idol! Best viewing numbers for a Results' Finale in 3 years!
And Scotty's new single is #1 on iTunes!
