Thanks everyone. It just gave me pause for thought when I saw that photo. My friends, sons and sister in Napa are not watering their yards this year. No flowers and no tomatoes either which is sad to me.

Oh NO. Brown grass and no tomatoes. I live in California too. This drought affects our livelihood as ranchers and farmers. So I will sell a cow and use the water that that cow would have needed for a day to throw MY bucket of ice. I would have sold them ALL to save others from the horrible death that my mother suffered.

I am sorry and I admit that this hits close to home for me. But the arguments that I am hearing just don't compute for me. Dead grass or dead mother? Easy decision for me.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Just one last thought, I hope, and it is this. If every person in California took the ice bucket challenge and just didn't flush ONCE to make up for the ice? How much water would really be lost? Come ON.

Cody, you get it. What a sorry excuse for not caring for others.

I was really irked to see some members of Congress take the challenge after not voting to fund ALS research. Such hypocrites.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

You can always write a check, put it in a bucket, and dump it on your head! That way you wouldn't be "wasting" water and supporting the charity. Smiley Happy. Kinda if like what .charlie .sheen did. ALS has never received this type of attention and anything we can help them to find a cure, I'm all for it!!

Joan Rivers did it, they showed it on Fashion Police last night. Tara Reid threw the bucket on her.

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Did anyone see the clip yesterday of ex-Presidential candidate Mitt Romney doing the ice bucket challenge? And who but Paul Ryan dumped it on his head! Never EVER saw Mitt's hair messed up, and he didn't look so bad--maybe he's loosened up a bit! I just hope he and Paul made a HUGE donation, since they can both well afford it!{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

I think the point is some discomfort for the donor, thus at least a bucket of ice water. Some film clips show people using a lot more than a bucket, but they are having fun. Total is over $41 million now!

I am very sorry to hear about your mother and you never have to apoligize for what you believe in! Some people just don't "get it". No one knows what a person has gone through with something like ALS unless they have been there themself. I took care of my mom with Alzheimers for 4 years and never wished that on anyone!
