ALL OF A SUDDEN (New Year's Day) Gold turns my finger black!

I know I've heard people have this problem. I think they are allergic to it and can't wear it.

It's never happened to me before.

I had on a favorite ring today. Someone complimented me on it and I held my hand out and sort of twisted it around. THERE WAS BLACK ON MY FINGER. My mouth dropped open. I don't even know what the other persons reaction was. (I feel like I kinda blacked out from embarrassment! lol.)

What the heck. The ring is 14K gold. I've had it for almost a decade and all of a sudden it turns my finger black.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them. Does it mean I'm allergic?
