It's not just Aldi's. "The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Newport infections. Although the investigation has determined that red onions are the likely source of this outbreak, Thomson International, Inc. has notified FDA that it will be recalling all varieties of onions that could have come in contact with potentially contaminated red onions, due to the risk of cross-contamination. This recall would include red, white, yellow, and sweet onions from Thomson International, Inc. "

@Whosits I posted the notice of this outbreak yesterday. Look for it if you want all the states under investigation.

We need a safer food supply. I'm tired of all the constant deadly vegetables. Someone needs to get it together. No idea exactly who. I'm grateful they catch it after the fact, but there should be no contamination to begin with.
