When I was a kid I always thought these were giant shredded wheats.

Make a wish on it! My mother always told me when you see the first hay bail make a wish on it and it should come true!

Never underestimate the power of kindness.

Can someone explain the process to a NYC dweller?

I tried googling and find a bunch of youtube but it was 6 minutes of watching a tractor taking the round haystacks off the flat bed truck. And a video of green round stacks being bandaged up so it dries out to become hay?
