ADT HOME SECURITY ~ HAVE IT?? RECOMMEND IT ???

We are thinking that we are way overdue to having home security system. What are your thoughts and what do you have?

@tends2dogs Yes, I highly recommend it. I’ve had it for six years and no problems.

I had ADT for many years and was pleased with it.

Now we have Xfininity home security. I am so much happier with it. We have the app and can control it with our smart phones. It's not hard wired. They put sensors on doors, windows and the sliding doors. We still have police and fire protection.

It's much cheaper than ADT was.

I have American security, had it for a total of16 yrs.

@tends2dogs : Please don't think that a security monitoring system is all you need; still personally stay alert at all times. Personally, I couldn't use ADT (BTK serial murderer was an ADT tech at the time he was captured.

Several on my street had ADT signs in front of their homes at some time.

Over the last 5 years or so they've all dumped ADT in favour of a variety of others.

@tends2dogs I just notice the signs when I'm walking, don't know why they changed. Possibly because of the popularity of Ring Doorbell security systems. (?

We've had ADT for about 10 years. Had it at one of our offices, too. It is better than some of the others, but getting them out to the house for service on our cameras has been a pain--they seem to have only one or two technicians and it takes forever to get on the schedule. I'm thinking we ought to look into other options, as there are newer systems that are less expensive. Not sure if we could have our cameras with another system, though.

ADT is simply the company you choose to monitor the security system you have installed.

After our break in, my police officer BIL put us in touch with the local company that installed the security system in the Courthouse. At that time, they were contracted to install for ADT, so we had ADT as our monitoring company for several years.

We decided to add more equipment to our system, so I called the ADT number as usual, and scheduled the appt. On installation day an ADT van pulls up instead of the local company, and we learn ADT was no longer contracting locally, and the installer was based 100 miles upstate! Shortly after that, ADT hit us with a significant rate increase, which ended our association with them.

The local company signed us up with the monitoring company they contract with. This way our service needs are handled only by local people and our monthly monitoring costs are $15 less than what ADT was going to start charging us.
