Here in Arizona, I renewed my drivers license onlin. Didn't have to take a vision test or written exam, and I'm in my 70's.

@CelticCrafter Thanks for that news flash! I just checked the NJ DMV website. Strange I have never gotten a notice about mail-in renewals for SS. Is it new?
Nothing about SS providing that stupid 6 point paperwork through mail-in??????
I did see the info that there is now DMV bus which travels around the county. You can do all your DMV deeds on the bus! There is one parked at the Inspection Stations.

My husband got his liscense renewed at AAA a few months ago. He didn't need an appointment...just walked right in and it took less than ten minutes.

Last year I had to renew my license and get that "Real ID"license that everyone needs to have by 2025.
I made an appointment and went to my AAA office and was done in about 15 minutes.
I only went to AAA because of all the paperwork you need to bring in order to get this "Real ID" thing and I wanted to avoid any possible long lines. However, the previous renewal was at my local DMV and I did it on a
vending machine type thing. No lines. No wait. Quick, easy and absolutely unbelievable given my previous DMV experiences where you needed to bring a lunch and a change of clothes if you were going to the MA
RMV. Fast, easy and painless at a Massachusetts Governmental Agency??!!! I thought I was getting PUNK'D!
Now that my picture is from last year I will be able to renew my next license online, but AAA is a very nice option to have if your transaction is goingto require a human interaction.

@Mz iMac I renewed mine in 2022 by mail and my husbands came due last year by mail. Yes, no more 6 points of ID unless you want to go in and have a new picture taken.

New Jersey is NOT one of them. We still have to bring our breakfast, lunch & dinner doggie bags while.........

@Mz iMac I am in New Jersey. Most people can now renew their Drivers' Licenses on line. But if you want a Real ID you have to go in person the first time. After that, I believe you can renew on line. This is from the NJ DMV

@Boehm Collector I was never given an option to renew online. Every 4 years, I am given instructions on how to proceed using the 6 point system.

The DMV ( dept of motor vehicles) office is a lot closer to me than the AAA office.
Whenever I go to the DMV, I am in and out quickly. It used to take forever, but not anymore.
I also do most of my business online if I can. I still have to go in to get the photo ID done every five years though.
