Just saying.....
Me too, but no one is going to make a service call in the dark. It would be way too dangerous. She will have to wait until morning to call.
Damages to the home are paid by the homeowners insurance company. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
We have white pine trees that are 30 and 40 ft high. When we get a heavy snow, the branches drop way down and we can hear them creaking and cracking. Sometimes they break off.
i am glad we don’t have any snow here, but it’s finally getting cold. Stay safe everyone.

@gidgetgh do you have a well? If so ,be sure to draw water, in case your power is knocked out
Keep your house a bit on the warm side , so if your power is out, the house will still be warm

If I was that positive a tree was about to fall on my house I'd be outside putting ropes around it & hook up our car or truck to pull it in the other direction from the house.

@151949. Omg, please don’t ever do that. That is dangerous.

@cherry- no well. We’re on county water.
I have it really warm in here and we have a fire going in the fireplace. Power keeps going on and off.

Large branches (huge) might come down with the added weight. This should not come thru your house. You'll just hear a loud crackling sound and bang or house might vibrate when branch bounces off.
You may wish to call arborist when weather clears. Get references: some tree crews are over-zealous - love to remove trees for no reason. Even if you wanted to hire someone, reputable companes will probably be out straight working with utility companies if weather is that bad there.
It's scary, I know. But just cuddle up, keep warm and enjoy your family time.

@151949- can’t do that. First, my husband has Parkinson’s. Second, I have a torn meniscus in my right knee. Third, this is a really big tree. Neither one of us, even at our physical best, can go out, in the dark, in 7 inches of snow, and get a rope around it and try to pull it in the opposite direction, which would be the small section of woods between us and the people behind us. It’s too dangerous.
And we can’t get a car to the back side of it and pulling it to the front would be pulling it toward the house.
I appreciate your thoughts Though!

@eddyandme- thanks. We have a great tree company, that we’ve used numerous times through the years. I’m going to call them first thing tomorrow morning and get our name on the list.
I’m still hoping those branches will go ahead and come down. That would be the best thing.
