Good evening all! I am so overwhelmed from all your kind posts about Dash and what happened. I tried to get information about Dash and his brothers and sisters but, I could not get anything. Steven let his anger get the best of him and he is very annoyed at himself for not staying there and at least adopting another puppy Greyhound or not. I sent a letter and e-mail to the head man there and it was returned to us unopened . We are going to adopt another puppy but, this time we will go to our neighborhood shelter here in NJ where we can pick up the puppy and take him to the vet to get checked out. Our local no kill shelter where we rescued our dear pluggy has more lab puppies coming in next week that will be needing homes. our very kind friend at the shelter will let us know when the puppies come in. I hope and pray that Dash got the home he deserves. I feel so bad about the whole situation and so out of control with everything. In short it was a thoughtless and heartless thing to do to us. I think Steven got angry and annoyed mostly because he was afraid that Libby would get upset. She put us to shame big time. And keeps Dash in her everyday prayers. Have a great weekend all and I will update this thread when the puppies come in. Thanks again for your kind posts.

My heart goes out to you,Steve,Libby and Tanya. What a cruel and despicable thing to happen to all of you!
I'd like to suggest that you contact Grey2K...the wonderful organization that I told you about that's located in Arlington,MA...and let them know what happened and give them the name of the place that you dealt with.
I'm willing to bet that they'll help you to find a reputable place to rescue a greyhound from. Their phone number is 781-488-3526. Here are some contact names for you:
Christine Dorchak/President & General Council
Carey Theil /Executive Director
Amelia Cook/Director of Research & Advocacy
Dana Demetrio/Executive Assistant
Hope this info helps.

All of my children have paws =^..^=
Thank you Beastie! I am going to report this. Thank you so much for the links you provided us with! Now we have some control of this situation. Have a nice weekend!

I don't blame your husband for being mad, the rescue people made a big booboo there.
We applied for a pup we both liked the look of, but the rescue people told us he'd already been adopted (they just hadn't got round to taking his photo offline). So I chose a different dog (from a different org) and we couldn't be happier. The first dog was not meant to be ours, but this second guy is perfect. Your perfect dog is out there waiting patiently for you to find him.
Hi Clover, We provided the blue collar and had his name put on it ! I had a feeling he was not feeling well , he had a ear infection but, compared with his siblings he was not as active or eating as well as the others in the litter, Tanya asked why he was so listless and was told that he was just fine but, the medication made him tired. Now I wonder if this puppy was ill to begin with?
[I did not want to post this before in case Libby read though these posts and found what Tanya and I discovered.]

Matty, my son adopted a darling cat from a shelter. He was fine. He adopted another kitty a few weeks later. She became ill and she infected the other kitty. She died and his other kitty barely survived. They have now instilled making sure all the pets are healthy and vaccinated. Maybe Dash was ill and not adopted after all. You'll find your perfect dog! My son went ahead and adopted another female kitty and she's fine. This whole thing scared me. I have thought about getting another dog for Emmy, but because of what happened to my son, I think I'll just keep Emmy to myself!

Matty,
I, too, am so sad that this happened to you. I had tears in my eyes reading how Libby took the news and wished Dash the family well. What an angel on Earth you have in your precious daughter! I will pray that you find just the right puppy for your wonderful family! You truly are an inspiration to us all! Much love to you and your sweet family (two and four legged)!
Hugs, love and prayers,
Panda

I am so sorry for your son and the kitties.. OMG I hear this a lot lately. That is why we decided to adopt from our local shelter when the lab puppies come in. Yes, we decided on a lab mix or a Labrador. We love the breed and Pluggy got along well with our other three. And I know this breed well because we had five of them ... Oh not at one time but, we had many labs growing up. We are going to file a complaint with this rescue group. And I have a feeling that our Dash was not adopted out to anyone but, was ill and was put to sleep. They could have adopted him out to us anyway. Steven and I would have done our very best for him and whatever he needed he would have had. We were all bonded to this puppy. And this hurt very much. As Tanya would say "it is what it is" And she is right. I hated not having any control over this situation. Stay well everyone and there pet kids!

Many years ago we went to the local animal shelter and found a dog we loved and we put our name on the list. We were at the top of the list so we were very confident we would be able to bring her home. We stopped by one day before the waiting period was up just to take a look at her and spend time with her. Someone had stolen her out of the cage.
I was so upset. I could never bring myself to go back to that shelter ever again. I have since adopted other dogs, just never from there.

I am so sorry this happened to you Red .. I am still upset over this, not knowing what happened to that puppy and why. it seems we have no control of the situation. But, how thoughtless of some people.. I feel sad for the dogs and cats they care for.
