@suzyQ3

First of all I haven't noticed a thing wrong with your posts, and I usually have an eagle eye for that sort of thing.  But I understand how scary this would be.  You are doing the right thing to see your doctor - if it's nothing to be concerned about, you can relax.  If there is something going on, you will have the ammunition to fight it head on.

My DH (72) has been having problems with his memory for several years.  He takes a prescription med prescribed by his neurologist which does help. Please keep us informed when you get to see your doctor and in the meantime consider just how many of us here are in your corner!

I haven't noticed anything at all wrong with your posts, @suzyQ3. I've noticed I make errors about everytime I do post..... I think we notice more about our mistakes than others do. Please don't be hard on yourself, and please don't stop posting. I've always enjoyed your posts, you have always seemed intelligent and articulate to me.

I'm so sorry you are going thru this, and I'm praying that the Dr. will be able to help you.

I am very sorry that you are experiencing this.  I know that has to be concerning.  The important thing is that you contacted a doctor to try and figure out what is going on.  I know how easy it can be to keep putting something off, which we all know isn't the least bit helpful.

I will be thinking about you and hoping for the absolute best.

@suzyQ3 , ❤️.  You are doing the right thing to discuss this with your doctor.  I have never noticed errors in your posts.  LM

Re: A personal FYI

@suzyQ3   You have far more courage than I do. I have also experienced the same problems you describe for a couple of years, but instead of talking about it here I have retreated from these conversations in embarrasment.

I've even stopped posting about the books I read, which are usually about five per week. No one seemed interested in my posts so I simply provided titles and authors in the last few months while I participated.

Although I do know why words are beginning to fail me: it's a result of life-time seizures. My use of many medications, the seizures and head injuries are finally catching up with my brain. My life has been full and so fortunate. So many epileptics cannot begin to relate to the kind of life I've enjoyed and I realize how fortunate I have been.

However, like any serious illness (and I have several others) the frustration is difficult and I find it easier to read or socialize with family and close friends who understand all of my health problems and don't judge me. I do continue my volunteer work, which is such an enjoyment and relaxing. I have also stopped playing in so many bridge games with teams from over 55 years ago, which was becoming stressful rather than fun.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts as you face this uncentainty in life. It's a difficult situation to encounter, but you have handled it with grace and dignity. You have also caught it early and your physican should be able to  provide insight or direct you to a specialist who is able to provide a diagnosis and help find some relief from the problems and/or cause.

Please let us know the results of any tests and how your are feeling peridically. I'm sending best wishes for a happy and healthy outcome.

@suzyQ3  I can understand the concern, fear, anger that you must feel. I've noticed that words I should know suddenly don't come to me as easily as they once did; it shakes me sometimes. Please know that you are not alone in this; there are many who are concerned for your well being and are offering support that you not only can find some sort of peace while dealing with it but also that you find out the WHY.

Hugs to you.

I also struggle with spelling. I have my entire life and freeze-up when someone asks me how to spell something. When writing, I ask Siri how to spell words that I am unsure of. I also find the default font on these boards difficult to read.

When I was a child, my first grade teacher figured out that I was not able to read. My grandmother, who was a retired English teacher, taught me how to read. My dad also helped. I have always felt weak in my writing skills. That being said, I managed to get a Masters Degree in Nursing and  a Masters Degree in Business. I am not a dummy, but nurses and doctors do not chart in full sentences. Of course for my degrees I had to write papers, and I did so very carefully.

I sometimes superimpose numbers, for instance I go to write 13 and instead write 31 or change them in my head when using a calculator. I have to be very careful about this.

Once, I posted on these boards during a difficult time in my life when my mother was really sick and almost to the end of her life. Another poster on these boards ridiculed my post because of the grammar that I used and the lack of paragraphs. I felt really hurt and down. Others who say cruel things may not understand that they may be deeply offending someone or that the person may have a deficit or they don't care.  Others on the board defended me and responded to him or her, but the post did make me feel self conscious.

@suzyQ3 Yes, I have noticed you are not yourself.  Best wishes and good thoughts and prayers for you!  Don't panic yet--although that is easy for me to say and not so easy for you!

Ah, @suzyQ3 ! (I haven't read everyone's responses yet...)

You ought to see me blanking out when I am trying to recall a name or a fact that I have on the tip of my tongue! Sometimes I have to change my whole course of action. Other times, it finally comes, but it seems like I had to squeeze it out of me.

I'm just wondering if you take any supplementation? I couldn't operate without mine, and then, there are those times that I struggle (as I explained above.)

I do have many times, though, where names and dates and facts come quite easily, and I wonder how I ever remembered!

I think if we do not use our information skills on a routine basis, sometimes it slips through (hopefully, a temporary) crack.
