Re: A frivolous curiosity....

Well...yes. The bathroom has always been an attraction for my cat....he goes in there often and sniffs around, and has even managed to turn on the water for the tub once.

I go in there, send him out, close the door, take my shower, etc..then open the door to leave the room and almost trip right over him, parked right on the other side of the door.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

For some reason, my 3 male cats like to check on me when I'm in the bathroom doing my thing, my 3 females could care less. One of the boys likes to sit in my lap while I'm going potty. He'll sit on the floor by the toilet, raise his right paw & gently touch my leg, as if asking me if he can come up. Once he's done that, he jumps up into my lap & curls up in my lap until I'm done. I think he does this because if I dare to show him affection outside of the bathroom, his daddy will terrorize him, picking a fight & chasing him around, tackling him eventually. I've had to break up many a tussle between the 2 of them.

all our animals have a fascination when you're heading to bathroom. They lay down right outside the door. you trip right over them coming out.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

My dog guards the shower area sometimes when I'm in there It's a pretty large room. He does it to hubby too. I think he doesn't like not seeing us for 5 minutes.

Mine follows me every where. She is sitting on my shoulder as I type...it can be painful at times.

I feel bad because she will get up to follow me to the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room etc. an about the time she gets there...I am on to another room.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

I don't have pets of my own, but my husband and I frequently housesit for a couple, which includes taking care of their two adorable dogs (inside pets) and their cat (outdoor/garage pet). The doggies do follow me into the bathroom.

I guess I should add that we have been sitting with them for several years now....many times during the year. An entire month during the summer when their family goes to the beach and several other trips ranging from weekend only to up to two weeks at a stretch. The dogs are very used to us, almost like we are part of their family.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

One of my cats follows me to the bathroom and waits on the rug, LOL. Even if I get up during the night, he flies off the bed and runs ahead of me, as he knows where I'm going.

Then when I return to bed, he jumps up on the bed before me and lays down in my spot. Many times I pretend I don't see him and proceed to get in bed in that same spot and when it dawns on him that I might not see him, he runs to the other end of the bed so he won't get crushed (so he thinks). Wink

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

I have a cat and a dog and they are both usually in front of me. Since the cat is the boss he is usually walking in front at the head of the line so we all have to go his speed. Sometimes it takes forever to get house work done with this set up.

My dogs follow me to the bathroom. They lay on the floor patiently until I am finished. The bathroom is the only room the follow me.

Re: A frivolous curiosity....

yes-- if I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom... my dog is laying outside the door watching me. Usually she is only feet from me where ever I am in the house.. following me throughout the day. She just loves to be around me.. especially in the kitchen as she knows that treats can fall on the floor she will dart in and pick up pieces of carrot of whatever as I am preparing dinner..... I call her my Little Roomba!
