He knows that's where the water is and thinks I'm going to do water things with him every time I go in. For example, he sits on the ledge of the tub and drinks out of a cup of water his human (me) holds under his chin, or the human slowly pours a cup of water into the tub and he sticks his paw out to catch the drops.
He knows when I'm getting ready to shower every day, runs in ahead of me and jumps into the tub. I'm standing there nekkid in the tub with him and he plops down and starts rolling. We have this whole routine where I say, "You have to get out of the shower now. You have to get out of the shower now." (We all say things twice to our pets, right? And in a baby voice too.
) Then I rub his belly and he stretches out his paws. Then he gets up and walks in between my legs where he stops, waiting for me to pick him up (I swear he gets heavier every week). He enjoys flying over the tub onto the other side.
This is all to explain that my cat is right there when I am doing my business because he figures I might do one of these water things with him. He sits right in front of me and stares. It's very disconcerting. I"ve given up on trying to lock him out because he will sit on the other side of the bathroom door meowing and clawing at the door. "Let me in! Let me in!"
Nothin' like skin-on-fur...
, each of us in the natural state in we're were born.
Great story. Some cats love to 'catch' drops of water - or drink - right from the tap, but your guy takes it to a whole other level with the tub, LOL.
I've been very blessed to have been a cat guardian for over 35 years, and am way past any uncomfortable feeling from THE STARES. I like to say that "cats always keep your ego in check", and people who just plain don't like them can't deal with that, or have too big of one. ![]()
Pets seem to love routine just as much as kids do, and it's healthy for us hoomans as well. Consistency and constancy are comforting. 8)

All these stories are very sweet and make me smile. I can just picture some of the antics knowing my pup's behavior. Glad people are sharing and that I am not alone.

Hey, Jules - & Mischievous Mia!
You may not recognize me, 'cause I had my fur colored and permed, but I hope that these tales/tails have also made you literally LOL and continue to do so, as many have done for moi.
And, you're never alone when it comes to anything true animal lovers and pet parents feel or do.

When my Callie was younger and found herself on the other side of a closed door, she would put her paw under the door and play with the door stop. There it went twang, twang, twang -- until I had to open the door to make her stop.

I have one Chiweenie that follows me everywhere I go.

Funny you should mention this, Maggie Too. We have Olympic Door Games. I pull the green string from the other side of the bathroom door. My cat is smart, though. When the string disappears, he walks around the open door to the other side!
Gee, the two of us spend so much time in and around the bathroom.

My kitty is 17 and has always followed me to the bathroom and everywhere inbetween. In our last house, he used to sit on the bathtub between the curtain and the liner when I took a shower. In the current house, he used to sit on the counter and wait until the shower door opened and I came out before he left. I guess he was waiting to see if I came out safely, who knows. He's a little slower and doesn't jump as much anymore, but he still hangs around the bathroom during shower time.

Mine used to do that. But I thought it was sweet. He wanted to be every where that I was. I'd give anything if he were still with me. I miss his precious little face!!!

When I was a sahm, we had a cat and a dog and both of the followed me everywhere I went in the house. Foot for foot; everywhere I went my "posse" was right behind me. When I sat down, the cat would squeezer herself into the chair with me and the dog would like across my feet or he would lay his head on my feet. Both of are in pet heaven now. We've had our current cat for 17 years and right from the beginning, he was my husband's cat. When hubby is home, he follows him around and when hubby is in the bathroom, he sits outside the door and waits for him. He, that's the cat, doesn't care much about me. I'm the one who feeds him, gives him water, buys his blankets for him, worries about him when he seems to be under the weather. But he doesn't care much for me. The only attention he gives me is when he wants to be fed, he'll tap me on the knee with his paw.
