I don't know @goldensrbest Just so you know, birds don't have a strong sense of smell. I had an experience in 2005 where a sparrows nest blew out of a tree and landed on my patio. Nest looked empty. I put it in a plastic bag and set it on top of a container in my garage. Bag acted like an incubator and 24 hours later 3 sparrows hatched. We secured the nest in the tree and no one came. A predator got one of the babies and I entered the world of birds.
My husband and I took a shot at handraising the sparrows out of the egg. The birds imprinted on us. Peewee my female lived 9 years. Her brother Poppi almost lived to the age of 13. I lost him last year about 6 weeks before his 13th birthday.
I don't know if the bird will recognize the nest once you move it.

You can cross your fingers and pray but............usually wild life will abandon what ever has been messed with. That's just life.

She will probably find another place to build another nest. I think the one you moved is hopeless, but it was probably not a good place for it anyway.
Wow @Bird mama !

Oh, birdmama, I loved your story so much — made my day !

Many experts say that it is an old wives tale, that if humans touch baby wildlife, the parents will abandon it.
I rescued 2 baby bluebirds who fell out of their box during stormy, windy conditons.
I scooped them up, held them to my chest to keep the pelting rain off of them and quickly returned them to box with their siblings.
Mama bluebird returned and nurtured them until last weekend when all 5 babies fledged!
I've also had the same experience returning baby squirrels to their nest after a storm,
they weren't abandoned either.

Sometimes it seems like there is no easy answer, @goldensrbest . Last week I found a little nest in a huge flower pot on my front porch. As the week went on, it ended up having 4 eggs in it. This morning the momma is sitting on it. This would all be just fine and dandy if I didn't have 2 cats. I have successfully kept one cat in and am trying to keep an eye on the front porch, to make sure my other cat doesn't bother the bird. He hasn't found the nest yet, or he isn't interested. When I have tried to keep him inside in the past, he howls and howls till I let him out.
What do we do?

I knew that when they hatched ,if they did my dog would kill them ,chances are,i had to move them,it was in a 3ft tree,if that tall, I will keep checking the nest.

You did the right thing to relocate the nest, as long as it is in the same general area, Mama will find them based on pure instinct.
Don't worry!![]()
