OK, so my opinion may not be a popular one here but...
I was going through the paper today, I always check the ads for Siberian Huskies and Yellow Labs (I'm a sucker). I came across an ad for a Whoodle...for the life of me I could not figure out what it was - I had to google. Apparently it is a Wheaten Terrier Poodle mix.
Does anyone else feel that this designer breed thing is getting out of hand? They get two dogs of different breeds, breed them and then charge more than double what they paid for the first two dogs. Really $2500.00 for a mutt? I doubt they are doing any certifications, because none exist for a non recognized breed. I doubt they are doing any genetic testing...they are not proven in any sort of ring...so what gives? I just have a feeling these people are playing with fire, and sadly the resulting pups and their unsuspecting owners are going to pay the price.
Thoughts?
