[Lindsays Grandma]

Fred and Mable were married for many years.  Their marriage was good except for one thing that drove Mable crazy.  He was a cheap skate, hated to spend money unless it was for what he considered essential needs.

Mabel's best friend was always letting Mable know what a tight wad Fred was and asked her often why she puts up with it.  Mable said she loved Fred and, yes, she hated the way he pinched money but it was what it was.  Mable told her friend that Fred made it very clear that when he dies she is to take all of his money and put it in the coffin with him.

Well, the day finally came when Fred was old and his time on earth ended.  When Mable's friend found out that Fred died she said to Mable;  "He was such a cheap skate, I hope you didn't put the money in his coffin.  Mable looked at her friend and said,  "Oh, yes I did.  I got it all together, wrote out a check and put in the coffin."
