He was a little more.....odd than I could handle/understand, I guess. Where Twin Peaks was filmed----was about an hour away from where I live. I did watch that show but was never totally captivated by it. Didn't watch any of his films but maybe would know the titles.

Same here @JeanLouiseFinch . It was unlike anything on TV at the time. I'll admit to a crush on Kyle MacLachlan back then.

Loved Twin Peaks. Maybe with the death of David Lynch it will air somewhere again. It would be interesting to see if one held the same opinions as when originally it aired.

🎥 Can we ever forget Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet? RIP David.
@CaliGold67 I'm not familiar with him whatsoever. I went to wiki and viewed the list of all of his work and there wasn't a single movie/show he did that I even watched.
If you ever change your mind and want to watch a Lynch film, I recommend The Elephant Man (1980).
Sterling cast and unforgettable performances (John Hurt, Anthony Hopkins, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller and Anne Bancroft).
A bit of trivia. The Executive Producer of the film was Anne Bancroft's husband, Mel Brooks. He was absent from the credits because he didn't want anyone to think the film would be some zany comedy. And, of course, it wasn't.
He gave Lynch a fabulous opportunity and Lynch always appreciated the gift he was given. Some of the actors were skeptical (Hopkins in particular), but Brooks knew what he was doing.
Hopkins watched the film years after its release and realized Lynch's brilliance. He sent a letter to Lynch and apologized for his resistance on the set.
Really a beautiful film.

The musical scores were all done by Angelo Badalamenti (sp?). Talk about genius - his music sticks in your memory forever and it's part of the "Lynch Addiction" we fans have had for decades.

@CaliGold67 wrote:@Susan Louise You missed out on some stunning and provocative content. It's never too late - the Twin Peaks 1991 tv series is available on Amazon video. I highly recommend it. Don't start with Eraserhead or Blue Velvet - Lynch is an acquired taste but like all fun habits he's provided enormous stimulation. If that's what you're after.
@CaliGold67 When I went through the list, none of them peaked my interest...not my taste in subject/material/genre.
Did you watch anything on the list? Or just read the titles? I realize Lynch is an acquired taste but his work has never been obscure or in a narrow niche of film art. That's why I recommended the OG "Twin Peaks" TV series from 1991. It's hard to form an opinion about something one hasn't seen or heard. I get it.

I'm lucky to have a signed poster of "Laura" (Sheryl Lee) as she was discovered "wrapped in plastic". It's dark but classic. I had a relative who worked on the set. I also have an old music CD of the soundtrack of the show. That was a momentous time in my life and I'm so glad to have kept it all. 🏔️🏔️

That's the key - we're NOT supposed to understand Lynch's works. We take in the images, music & dialogue on an experiential level. If one thinks about his work then we don't know how to appreciate it.
