A PROMISE TO YOUR DOG AND OTHER WORDS OF WISDOM

I will never move and not take you with me

I will never put you in a shelter and leave

I will never let you starve

I will never let you hurt

I will never desert you when you get old

Nor will I leave you when you go blind

If that time comes I will be there to hold you

Because I love you and you are FAMILY

Let me be the first to admit I am guilty of

not keeping in contact with people I barely

see or keeping in touch with my own family.

Just know if you ever impacted my life in any

way you are forever in my heart and no

time apart could ever change that.

I love that first one and it is how I feel about our cats.

We've adopted various cats from our local animal shelters. They were all owner surrenders for various reasons.

One cat we adopted as a kitten and I always tell him that if I have all control, that this home will be THE ONLY HOME he will ever know.

I love this and wish everyone who owned pets actually followed through with this. It breaks my heart when I read on these forums about people who want to put their pet to sleep because they are older and having accidents and they are tired of cleaning it up. For one, there ARE things you can do to help, either medication or belly bands, diapers, etc. Many times these animals are perfectly healthy otherwise, just old and can't necessarily control their bladder or bowel as well. Anyway, I digress. Love this.

All of my dogs are with me to the end.  I would NEVER desert them no matter what.  All my dogs lived long happy lives from puppy to senior.  That's a promise I made to each one.  I had a Lhasa who lived to be almost 17 and he was a happy little boy.  Right now I have a Shih Tzu who's 10 and I love him to death.  He's a very happy little boy!!

I agree.

I've gone so far as to have this in my will.  The house cannot be sold until my last cat dies.  I have sufficient money to cover the cost of their care.  And, I mean if it requires every last penny I have, then they are to sell other assets to care for the cats (this should not be necessary, but just in case).

These directions are to the executor of our will should my husband and I die at the same time.  Otherwise, we would each care for the kitties alone.
