@Enufstuff wrote:@DottieBlue You are correct. This woman only found out about all this, when the police showed her the videos.
I immediately thought that this is probably happening to others without their knowledge.
Her children had taken her to doctors for symptoms that she was having and the doctors didn't recognize what was happening to her. Who would suspect such a thing.
They thought that she had dementia or Alzheimers and couldn't
remember how she was getting STD's. Ten years of being drugged was affecting her cognitive abilities.
@Enufstuff @Pezzie @DottieBlue
Well, I wonder how long it took them to seriously consider the source of the STDs.
Talk about a RED FLAG! Yikes!

@Tinkrbl44 Instead of blaming it on the husband, they assumed that she had been cheating on her husband with other men.
Any promiscuous behavior, they attributed to having
dementia or Alzheimer's.
I have to wonder if the husband promoted that idea to the doctors.

@Enufstuff wrote:@occasionalrain@elated@Tinkrbl44 The poor woman never knew what was happening to her. She was being drugged and was unconscious during the horrific events.
She didn't know until the police showed her the videos that her husband had filmed of her being abused.. He also had a camera hidden in their bathroom and had put videos of her and their daughter on the internet.
He was arrested for other charges of assaulting women and this lead the police to discover his heinous crimes.
She was losing her cognitive abilities, from being drugged for ten years and her children and she herself thought she was developing dementia.
She had no idea of what her husband of 50 years, was doing to her.
He has to be one of the most despicable excuses for a human being, that I have ever heard of. He even admitted being guilty of these crimes. So far, they have identified 50 of the men involved. That poor woman!
I know she was being drugged..I just wonder why she didn't suspect being drugged after 50 times. Many women know they are being drugged after the first or second incident. I am not defending her sick husband. It is very sad.

@elated One of the symptoms that she reported to doctors was that she felt tired and fatigued all the time, but they did not find the cause. Who would ever suspect that her husband was drugging her?
Her husband may have put it in something that she drank before bedtime and she went to sleep.
They lived in a very small village in France, so she probably was not seeing doctors at large hospitals in Paris or another large city. It probably never occured to doctors to test blood for drugs.
They have identified 50 men from the videos. There are about 100 men involved in the 200 recorded incidents.

I do understand that information but wouldn't you be sore. She had to be feeling something once she was awake. Sometimes it just seems off. Maybe when everything is brought out, it will jive.

@Pezzie @elated @Enufstuff @Tinkrbl44 @Greeneyedlady21
Read about this on mama Mia:
Watch: Asking For It trailer. Article continues after the video.
I'm glad she is going public...
I believe there are some men (people) who don't see others as "human beings".

I guess it's always possible the husband said yes we made love last night. Don't you remember, honey?

Good grief, people. She could very well have said she felt like something had been shoved up in her. Don't you think her husband was "gaslighting" her and telling her she was imagining it? He didn't want to stop his fun!
She DID know something was wrong and told her children and went to doctors. Of course, being a woman, her complaints were dismissed and was told it was all in her head. Or, it was all her fault because she must have been cheating on her husband and thus getting the STD's. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE??????????? Where else could she go to get help? It sounds to me she sought out all the help that was available to her--her family and doctors.
Well, lo and behold, the truth finally was discovered.
Hindsight is 20/20. I guess all the people who are sitting in judgment of her would have known IMMEDIATELY what was going on. Yeah, right.

@DottieBlue I totally concur with you. I'm sure that if anyone has questions about this unfortunate but brave woman, they can
find the complete story online, that will answer all their questions.
You are right about doctors being dismissive towards women.
I have fired all my male doctors. Over the past few years, I have had four doctors be dismissive about my health issues. Only female doctors for me. At least they listen and hear you and don't act as if only they are the all-knowing gods.
In my experience, male doctors will not admit that medications that they prescribed, have caused allergic reactions or other problems. I am super sensitive to medications and chemicals injected into my body, resulting in months to recover.
