Thank you, @Oznell, very interesting! Little House (books and TV show) were a huge part of my childhood. For any Little House fans who may be interested- this year marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the series. There is a podcast, I believe it's called Little House Fifty for 50. It's hosted by Alison Arngrim and Dean Butler who were cast members, along with another lady. It's on YouTube also, if you want to watch instead of just listen. Many cast members and others have been guests. I haven't seen them all, but the ones I have seen have been very good.

I loved these books and my mother read them at the same time I did. Such a wonderful memory.

Great post @Oznell, thanks! I only read one of the books, but was a major fan of the series. Times were simpler then, but definitely not easy.

@OznellThank you for these and all the pics and narrations you post. So interesting to see the houses as opposed to what we see on TV!

I have the book Laura Ingalls Wilder's Country I think it's called which takes you to all her homes and places in the books.
It's part of my bucket list to do the tour at some point when I retire, if I retire. I still have my original set on the bookshelf at home.

Thank you, Oznell, this is fascinating. I'm a huge Little House fan, I think I have watched series for at least 35 years, I still watch it! I hope that next year we can visit some of the homes, Walnut Grove and the Laura Wilder Museum... I have not read her books but this thread is inspiring me to do so.

I have such fond memories of this set of books. My mother, an elementary teacher for 40 years, read these stories to her class every year. I now have the books she read from. I also grew up in Missouri and remember visiting her home in Mansfield and I believe a cemetery.
I still watch the show as much as I can.

Charles Ingalls (Laura's father) was born in Cuba, Allegany County, New York (which is in beautiful western New York). I was born and raised in a county near there. I had an aunt and uncle and cousins that lived in Cuba, NY (no relation to the Ingalls, lol). It doesn't surprise me there are still lots of Ingalls in western NY.
