Running through the sprinklers in summer.
Getting into my mom's heels and jewelry and make-up.
Going to gramma and grampa's for dinner and having "real" steak.
Riding the bus with my bff by ourselves to go to the shopping center, going on the elevators and looking at "beginner bras" at Broadway.
Packing up the old Kaiser to go on summer camping trips, including 5 kids, and dad making "beds" in the back for us.
Spying on my big brothers during their teenage patio parties.
The Christmas I got my Tiny Tears baby doll.

There was a teacher - I want to say 5th grade - who was very kind to me. I still remember his name. I will never forget him for being so kind to that little girl, who knew very little pure kindness.

I have many fond childhood memories... life was so good and simple, I was a blessed little girl. I remember living in England, at about 4 my favorite Uncle would take me on the train to London, which I guess was about an hour ride, and I loved trains. We would walk around a bit in the park, get ice cream or treats, or he would take me shopping and buy me something, then we would take the train back home. He was awesome and I loved him, he was married to one of my mom's sisters. After we moved to the US, anytime we would visit them, they had a beautiful rose garden, and every morning he would cut off the most beautiful rose on the bush, put it in a bud vase, and then bring me a breakfast tray of tea and biscuits and the rose... he was such a dear man. My other fond memory is of my daddy always walking me to preschool in England. I suppose it was about a 20 min walk, and he could have driven me there, he did sometimes, but mostly we would walk there with me on his shoulders. The path went through a forest and often there was morning dew on the tree leaves, and I would always reach for them and shake them, and the drops of water would fall on him. He never minded... good times.

Isn't it awesome when your dad is the greatest guy in your whole wide world. Enjoy all those memories, they are blessings. I just lost my daddy so all the sweet memories are very important.

We used to go to a restaurant for birthdays/special occasions, where they had phones at each of the tables. When people would see that it was your birthday or whatever, they would call your table phone and wish you a happy day or congratulations. The phones were the "old time" style.
My father traveled a lot for his sales job. If he went somewhere new, he would bring back a souvenir, but most of the time since he had a "territory" he would bring me back Snowballs from the road. They had to be the pink ones.

Riding on my dad's shoulders...
Going to the local park for 4th of July fireworks...
Skating in that same park during the winter months (they flooded the lower section and when it froze we'd skate to live organ music)
Watching George Burns and Gracie Allan show with my mom..

Jules,
I just read your post about your daddy. I am so sorry for your loss. Your post made me cry. I lost my dad 7 years ago this June. I still miss him every day. I loved how you said you were a blessed girl. And even though I felt I lost him too soon, I know I was blessed to have my dad as my father. He was such a great dad and an amazing person. It sounds like your dad was too. Hopefully, that will help you along your journey grieving his loss. I came across this quote after my dad died, which stuck a chord for me...
"Don't cry because it's over...Smile because it happened." Dr. Suess
Another one that I like is..."Grief is absent without happiness."
And, you are right; all of those sweet memories are very important, and so precious. I am glad you were able to be with your dad when he passed. I read you have already lost your mom as well, and I'm sure they are both watching over you now. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
